Summary of Business Development Representative Role:

As the Business Development Representative, your role encompasses various responsibilities, including building client relationships, supporting our inside sales team, and collaborating with product operators and leaders. Your contributions are instrumental in ensuring the highest level of client satisfaction for both existing and prospective clients.

 

Business Development Representative Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Generation: Actively generate prospective customers through various methods, including cold calling, research, telemarketing, field sales, and leveraging leads provided by the marketing team.

  • Prospect Qualification: Assess potential client needs to determine suitability for our services and diligently follow up on new leads to secure business.

  • Client Communication: Engage in effective email communication with potential clients, maintaining a professional and persuasive tone.

  • Sales Planning: Develop customized call plans aligned with marketing campaign objectives and target goals.

  • Negotiation and Contracting: Negotiate contracts, including rate structures, lanes, and service options, to secure favorable terms for both parties.

  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends and competitor activities to guide strategic decision-making.

  • Client Education: Educate prospects about our services and solutions, emphasizing our unique value proposition.

  • Pricing Proposals: Prepare and present pricing proposals for current and potential customers, highlighting our competitive advantage.

  • Shipment Monitoring: Oversee shipments from pickup to delivery, ensuring a seamless and efficient process.

  • Customer Updates: Provide timely and accurate updates to customers on loads in transit, fostering transparency and trust.

  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor account performance and contribute to strategy discussions for continuous improvement.

  • Reporting: Submit comprehensive daily and weekly reports to management, highlighting achievements and areas for growth.

  • CRM Management: Maintain an accurate and up-to-date CRM database to ensure the highest level of record accuracy for new marketing leads and House Accounts.

  • Follow-Up Management: Diligently monitor and follow up on quote working and follow-up board to capture all potential sales opportunities.

  • Revenue Growth: Focus on increasing revenue levels of all House Accounts through targeted sales strategies and excellent account management.

 

Outside Sales Representative Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful sales management experience in logistics or transportation.
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
  • Results-oriented mindset with proficiency in CRM software and MS Office Products.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and sales opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, adept at building strong customer relationships remotely.
  • Ability to thrive independently and collaborate effectively within a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities, committed to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Intrinsic motivation, results-driven, and proficient in phone communication.
  • Preference for candidates with Freight Forwarding experience.
  • Availability for frequent travel to clients within the Houston area, with 10-20% out-of-state travel required.
