Job Description

Job Title: Senior Accountant - Dairy Farming Industry

Company Overview: Zonneveld Dairies, Inc. is a 3rd generation dairy farming enterprise and leader in the dairy farming industry. As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a high-energy individual with industry experience to join our team as a Senior Accountant and support our growth.

Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant with an understanding of the dairy farming industry to oversee all financial management activities for our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with specific experience in agricultural finance, preferably within the dairy sector. They will play a critical role in financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and analysis to drive strategic decision-making and ensure compliance with industry regulations. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to assist with human resource tasks and possess strong data analytics and tracking skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records through regular reconciliation of accounts and bank statements.
  • Oversee inventory accounting processes, including valuation and reconciliation.
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets in coordination with department heads and management; track budget variances and provide analysis to explain deviations.
  • Forecast financial performance and cash flow projections based on market trends and operational data.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with financial regulations providing accurate and timely data and documentation as needed.
  • Complete payroll processing and ensure accuracy of employee compensation.
  • Perform HR functions such as employee onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance with labor laws.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive business decisions.
  • Leverage data analytics tools and techniques to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic initiatives such as herd expansions, facility upgrades, and technology adoption for improved efficiency and productivity, utilizing data-driven insights to inform decision-making and drive business growth.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Ag Business, or related field.
  • Experience as a Financial Controller, Accountant, or similar role in the agriculture industry, with a solid understanding of farm economics and production management.
  • Familiarity with dairy farming software and systems; proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel for financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data related to milk production, feed costs, breeding programs, and animal health.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements with experience in data management and reporting for compliance.
  • Experience in human resource tasks such as payroll processing, benefits administration, recruitment, and compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across farm operations and financial management.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making in a dynamic and challenging agricultural environment.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
