We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Lab Supervisor to oversee the efficient operation of our research and development laboratories.

The Lab Supervisor will be responsible for various aspects of lab management, including inventory tracking, equipment maintenance, documentation management, chemical waste disposal, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in lab management, exceptional organizational skills, and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: -Manage inventory tracking systems for R&D samples, equipment spare parts, and consumables, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely replenishment of supplies. -Develop and maintain maintenance schedules for laboratory instrumentation, coordinating preventive maintenance and calibration activities to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance. -Draft and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training documentation for laboratory processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices. -Oversee chemical waste management procedures, including the safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with environmental regulations. -Enforce safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, conducting regular safety inspections and implementing corrective actions as needed. -Supervise laboratory staff and provide training on laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation. -Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for equipment repairs, maintenance contracts, and procurement of supplies and services. -Collaborate with research scientists and engineers to support ongoing projects and experiments, providing technical assistance and ensuring proper use of laboratory resources. -Manage budgets and resources effectively, optimizing operational efficiency while controlling costs. -Stay current with developments in laboratory management practices, safety regulations, and industry standards, implementing improvements as appropriate. -Routinely and concisely communicate findings, issues, and lab observations to senior R&D staff. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: -2+ years of relevant laboratory management experience. -BA/BS in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related field from accredited institution from accredited institution. -Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and/or Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides). -Proven track record of effectively managing laboratory operations, including inventory control, equipment maintenance, and documentation management. -Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. -Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the capacity to motivate and mentor laboratory staff. -Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in laboratory operations, including chemical hygiene, hazardous waste management, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage. -Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and analytical techniques, with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs. -Experience with computerized inventory management systems, document control software, and Microsoft Office applications. -Detail-oriented and meticulous in record-keeping and documentation. -Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. -Commitment to maintaining a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement in the laboratory. OTHER QUALITIES WE’D LOVE FOR YOU TO HAVE: -Laboratory management experience in any of the following: chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related field. -Hands-on experience with material characterization techniques: BET porosimetry, thermal gravimetric analysis, gas pycnometry, laser diffraction particle size analysis, XRD, Raman, gloveboxes, potentio/galvanostat electrochemical testers. -Proficiency in MasterControl, JMP, and/or other LIMS or database software. -Experience with recording information in laboratory notebooks and databases. -Desire to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment. All positions come with a company bonus and stock options. The actual base pay offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the position is located.
