Analytical Lab Supervisor

Performs specific duties and
responsibilities based on Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the Hazardous Material Safety Plan, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), to ensure the consistency and quality of Thorne products as well as efficient operation of the Analytical Laboratory. Ensures adherence to the ISO 17025 quality
system requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
โ€ข Provides direction for Analytical Laboratory personnel training. Ensures training is reasonably continuous, timely and conducted before employees begin new tasks and personnel are trained in applicable procedures.
โ€ข Performs investigations for analyses with out of specification (OOS) results as needed. Works with others in the QC Laboratory and outside of the department for solutions to prevent further OOSs from occurring.
โ€ข Reviews QC documentation, including disposition of investigation reports, validation and stability protocols, specifications (raw material and finished product), and SOPs.
โ€ข Reviews test results and works with the QC Data Group to resolve testing problems and ensures that all laboratory data is documented in compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
โ€ข In conjunction with the Quality Control Laboratory Manager, ensures the Analytical Laboratory is compliant with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
โ€ข Ensures the Analytical Laboratory is kept clean, organized, and is maintained in a state of audit readiness.
โ€ข Ensures that all aspects of the Analytical Laboratory are effectively managed. This includes laboratory testing workloads, stability testing, retained samples, documentation, and communication with other departments.
โ€ข Learns and oversees maintenance of instruments and applicable software.
โ€ข Communicates the effectiveness of the management system as described in ISO 17025 and the importance of meeting customers' and other requirements.
โ€ข Ensures that the integrity of the management system as described in ISO 17025 is maintained when changes to the management system are planned and implemented.
โ€ข Is committed to impartiality and confidentiality in all aspects of laboratory activities, identifies risks to impartiality and confidentiality and immediately takes steps to minimize such risks.
WHAT YOU NEED
โ€ข Experience and/or Education: By training, education and/or experience, employee must be able to perform the essential duties of the job.
โ€ข B.S. Degree in chemistry or science-related field with a minimum of 12 hours credit in college chemistry is required.
โ€ข Direct experience with two or more of the following analytical methodologies is required. high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectroscopy, and/or near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy.
โ€ข Prior supervisory experience in an analytical laboratory environment preferred

โ€ข Strong verbal and communication skills. Raises issues and concerns promptly. Documents and presents work in a clear and concise manner.

โ€ข Formally assesses talent, hires new staff, conducts formal and informal performance assessments, and addresses non-performing staff.
โ€ข Develops and delivers on assigned objectives within requested timeframes.
