Engineering Lab Supervisor

The Engineering Lab Supervisor has the duty of selecting and allocating laboratory test assignments to the staff and then evaluating the performance of these employees in their assigned roles. The duties of the engineering laboratory supervisor include testing, maintaining records and reports, issuing correspondence, reviewing errors and their cause, and giving advice to correct such errors. In some instances, the supervisor is a liaison between inspectors or works inside the sales and materials team.

The Engineering Lab Supervisor reports to the Engineering Manager and is based in Solon, OH with responsibilities.

We are seeking a talented Engineering Lab Supervisor to join our team.

Responsibilities:

Managing and Testing:

  • Provide directions and training to the technicians and prioritize jobs as needed.
  • Provide failure analysis testing and reporting to internal/external customers.
  • Maintain test equipment, both maintenance and calibration.

Internal Support:

  • Provide testing and failure analysis support to Supply Technologies branches.
  • Provide technical support to internal customers as requested, including drawings, specification reviews, and interpretations of reviews.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Information and Documentation:

  • Record technical information, mechanical, and performance testing.
  • Update and maintain documentation for ISO 17025 Certification.
  • Lead the ISO 17025 testing and certification requirements.

Must Haves:

  • Four-year degree in related field OR minimum five years of experience in related field.
  • Knowledge of PPAP and SPC charts.
  • Understanding of drawings, applicable text specification, GD&T, and dimensional layouts.
  • Proficiency with metrology methods utilizing an array of testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of gage calibration.
  • Proficiency with testing, neutral salt spray, sample preparation (cutting, mounting, polishing, etching), and interpretation.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025.
  • Proficient computer skills.
