The National Center for Families Learning, a private nonprofit organization located in Louisville, KY, is seeking an Associate Director, Family Literacy to work with a cross-functional team to ensure high quality delivery of NCFL's content and strategies in participating 60x30 communities. The focus of this role will be on providing leadership to launch and oversee up to two new Family Literacy model demonstration sites in Louisville, KY. This is a grant funded, 2-year position with chance for renewal. The successful candidate must reside in the Louisville, KY area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create an optimal environment for high-impact, family literacy in Louisville, KY.
  • Utilize best practices in high-quality family literacy, leadership, and engagement services to drive results with and for low-income children and families.
  • Work across NCFL teams, including but not limited to, Education Strategy & Innovation and Research & Evaluation to develop, track, and study benchmarks for measuring community-level success.
  • Ensure high-quality implementation of NCFL's Family Literacy model.
  • Collaborate with Adult Education partners and practitioners. Preferred adult education experience at a state or federally-funded program.
  • Help community partners maximize impact based on knowledge of local systems, policies, and resources.
  • Meet with and listen to feedback from families and partners regularly to inform continuous improvement.
  • See, cultivate, and steward strong partnerships that enable the sustainability of community-based efforts beyond NCFL's involvement and in close partnership with the state's leadership at Kentucky Adult Education.
  • Manage local vendor relationships and data gathering and requests.
  • Oversee and support the planning and implementation of community-based events and services.
  • Manage 2-3 Content Specialists.

  • Shares pertinent information with manager about work progress, successes, concerns, and other issues that may have an impact on the services intended for families
  • A commitment to upholding the organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and practices.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree or higher with specialization in Education, Human Services, Family Engagement, or a related field preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience in leading educational programming in diverse settings and communities
  • Experience in four component Family Literacy
  • Experience working with adults and children, school- and community-based partners
  • Ability to understand and analyze data to guide continuous program improvement efforts
  • Strong writing skills, ability to conceptualize and communicate ideas, organizational skills, and evidence of effective leadership when working with a team
  • Actively contribute to a positive, professional work culture focused on growth, development and learning across departments and teams
  • An unwavering belief that all families want the best for their children and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.
  • Proven track record of ambitious results in previous roles.
  • Self-awareness, a regular practice of reflection, and a desire to continuously improve
  • Skilled at collaborative action planning and execution
  • Travel required up to 40%

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged period of sitting at a desk and working at a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
  • Communicating with others to exchange information
  • Ability to travel

Salary Range - $60,000-$75,000 annually
