Job Title: Wilson Certified Teacher Job Category: Exempt Department/Group:       Job Description - Specialized Reading Instruction

Job Summary:   Under the direction of the Director of PPS, the responsibilities of the Wilson Certified teacher is for providing direct instruction to students, individually or in small groups, to enable students to develop literacy skills. As a literacy leader, the incumbent will provide coaching, support, and guidance to teachers in best practices for literacy instruction.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Wilson Certification Required
  • NYSD Certification in Reading, Literacy or Special Education

Primary Activities 

  • Coordinate and facilitate the school's literacy intervention program.
  • Collaborate with teachers individually to identify the literacy needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students in literacy.
  • Assist teachers with the collection of data, analysis of data results and supports the sharing of findings with all staff.
  • Review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading and writing intervention and support services.
  • Teach targeted literacy intervention to small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources.
  • Assist students using software and materials related to literacy programs.
  • Meet regularly with the classroom teacher to plan literacy instruction that correlates with the individual student's needs or as requested by the classroom teacher.
  • Maintain and submit accurate and up-to-date management records of all students' progress.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 
Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is typical for a school environment.
  • Work generally performed indoors with limited outside supervision of students.

Salary:  1/200th hourly rate of placement on the corresponding YCT Salary Schedule (Range: $62,306 - $135,587 (2025/2026) [2026/2027 TBD]
