Job Description: Stair Installer/ Finish Carpenter

Reports To: Project Manager/ Operations Manager

We are seeking a skilled Wood Stair Carpenter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in constructing, installing, and repairing wooden staircases. As a Wood Stair Carpenter, you will be responsible for interpreting blueprints, selecting materials, and executing precise measurements to create high-quality wooden stairs. Attention to detail, proficiency in carpentry tools, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

o             Measurement and Layout: Take accurate measurements and perform layout calculations to ensure precise placement and alignment of stair components.

o             Wood and metal are the base of every JD Stairs product. Working with both will be required.

o             Cutting and Shaping: Use carpentry tools such as saws, routers, and chisels to cut and shape wooden components according to design requirements.

o             Be able to maintain a vehicle and tools that JD Stairs requires.

o             There will be problems on job sites that will come up and you will need to be able to work through and adjust to them.

o             Interpret Blueprints: Read and interpret architectural blueprints and technical drawings to understand project requirements and specifications.

o             Work well with others at the office shop and on the jobsite. You need to work with the supervisors of JD Stairs and the supers of the job you’re working on.

o             Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for yourself and team members and/or as OSHA standards applicable to the responsibilities above.

o             Material Selection: Select appropriate wood materials based on project specifications, ensuring quality and suitability for stair construction.

o             Assembly and Installation: Assemble stair components including treads, risers, stringers, and handrails, ensuring proper fit and alignment during installation.

o             Communication: Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other team members to coordinate work activities and ensure project deadlines are met.

              Essential Qualifications

o        Ability to lift heavy items up to 60 pounds consistently required.

o        Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

o        Ability to identify and measure material.

o        Ability to produce quality products consistently.

o        Ability to follow instructions given both verbally and in written form.

o        Willingness to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities as well as dependable work ethic.

o        Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses.

o        Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction

o        Hands –on experience in working with carpentry materials.

o        Ability to read blueprints, drawings, calipers, tape measures and angle gauges.

Requirements:

o    Proven Experience: Minimum of [X] years of experience as a carpenter, with a focus on wood stair construction and installation.

o    Carpentry Skills: Proficiency in using carpentry tools and equipment, including saws, drills, routers, and measuring devices.

o    Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints and technical drawings accurately.

o    Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and precision to ensure accurate measurements, cuts, and assembly of stair components.

o    Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, standing for extended periods, and working at heights.

o    Team Player: Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and project stakeholders.

o    Safety Consciousness: Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all safety regulations and protocols.

o    Reliability: Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic and the ability to complete projects on time and within budget.
