Grant Accountant

The Grant Accountant is responsible for managing all aspects of grant accounting including general accounting and financial reporting. Major duties and responsibilities of this position include:

Responsibilities:

• Requesting new grant and project accounts as necessary 
• Prepare quarterly analysis of grant receivables and revenue/expense reports 
• Work with project directors to ensure that all financial reports are accurate and submitted on a timely basis
• Work with budget office to ensure that grants are allocated appropriately across accounts
• Reconciliation of grant accounts 
• Preparation and recording of journal entries as needed in reconciling interfunds
• Requires preparing accurate and timely financial reports and reimbursement requests for grant financial activity and assists in the preparation of grant proposal budgets
• Accumulates, researches and summarizes detailed account activity as needed and ensures accurate reconciliation of all grant account data to the general ledger
• Creates, reviews, and/or directs all accounting entries (transactions and journals) related to sponsored programs and restricted funds
• Other accounting related tasks as assigned 

Requirements:

• Knowledge of Grant Accounting 
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive Accounting experience 
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and macros
• Decision making and troubleshooting skills
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality
• Bachelors degree in Accounting

Preferred Skills:

• CPA or MBA a plus
• Experience with PeopleSoft's General Ledger or similar ERP system, preferred
• Industry experience out of Higher Ed. or Nonprofit preferred

Compensation: $35-$40/ Hour 
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
