POSITION SUMMARY
This is a hybrid position. The Underwriting & Risk Analyst plays a key role in collaborating with the sales and account management teams on assigned cases. This role involves providing financial analysis, utilizing modeling tools to evaluate benefit programs, and determining the impact on overall business objectives, including managing and controlling client risks and losses. The analyst serves as a confident communicator and independent decision-maker.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare client benefits proposals utilizing census and benefit information provided by the client managers of clients with 10-99 enrolled employees.
Negotiate with outside sales representatives to resolve rate questions and risk related concerns.
Recommend competitively priced products, funding arrangements, and services to meet clients goals using modeling tools and various reporting techniques.
Communicate rate/fee development and plan design changes. Assess contract comparisons for takeover business.
Stay informed about the dynamic, competitive insurance environment, new and complex insurance projects, appropriate underwriting techniques and constantly changing legislation that governs business.
Analyzes and coordinates the new business and renewal quoting process for the team.
Assist the Manager of Underwriting & Risk Management with performing underwriting, financial, and risk analysis support for internal sales teams and their respective consulting clients.
Assist the Manager of Underwriting & Risk Management with building and maintaining models to assist in the economic analysis of market alternatives.
Analyze claims reports for clients.
Participate in prospective client presentations as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Demonstrated presentation and communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong interpersonal skills and aptitudes
Ability to prioritize and efficiently handle multiple work items and due dates
Ability to make decisions, solve problems, and meet challenges in completing work
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Proven ability to work independently
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in business, finance, math, statistics, risk management or similar field
