JOB TITLE: Rehab Therapy Technician

REPORTS TO: Rehab Program Manager

FLSA STATUS: NON Exempt

JOB OVERVIEW: Provide therapy services to patients as assigned by Physical and Occupational Therapy. Assist with maintenance of gym and equipment. Provide administrative support for Rehabilitation Therapy Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. 1. Complete therapist scheduling for each patient.
   2. Update therapy communication board.
   3. Assists in preparing patients for treatment according to schedule.
   4. Assists in bringing the patients to/from gym for their scheduled treatment time, including Physical and Occupational Therapy group.
   5. Assists therapists with getting patients out of bed, as needed.
   6. Assists therapists with patient treatment sessions.
   7. Adheres to supervision requirements during patient care/treatment.
   8. Assists Physical Therapy in patient care as assigned by Physical Therapist, i.e. ambulation, transfers, or functional activities, as determined.
   9. Assists Occupational Therapy in patient care as assigned by Occupational Therapist, i.e. ADL's, therapeutic exercises, or functional activities, as determined.
   10. Provides new patients with wheelchair upon therapist's instructions, as needed.
   11. Inventory of all daily supplies and submit request to order according to the PAR levels of each item.
   12. File therapist documentation in patient chart.
   13. Cleans all weights, dumbbells and any other exercise equipment used daily.
   14. Prepares weights for individual patients for Physical and Occupational Therapy group according to the list posted.
   15. Assists with keeping linen stocked in supply room with towels, face cloths, sheets, gowns and linen bags.
   16. Removes all dirty linen from the treatment mat and/or gym after each patient use and place into laundry cart immediately.
   17. Maintains the laundry room cleanliness and supplies.
   18. Places clean linen on the mat for patient use/prepares treatment area.
   19. Keeps wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches cleaned and organized in designated storage closet.
   20. Keeps supply room clean and organized.
   21. Checks hydrocollator temperatures daily and record on maintenance log. Initial log daily and notify Program Manager of temperatures above 170°F and/or below 150°F.
   22. Drains and sanitizes hydrocollator unit monthly and document on maintenance log. Add water to unit as needed to cover all hot packs.
   23. Drains and cleans paraffin unit at least quarterly and document on maintenance log. Add wax to unit as needed.
   24. Cleans all Durable Medical Equipment (DME) immediately after patient use and store in the proper place.
   25. Retrieves all United Medical Healthwest Durable Medical Equipment (DME) from patients upon day of discharge.
   26. Maintains safe and clean work area and adheres to facility/company safety standards.
   27. Maintains positive relationships and rapport with coworkers, patients, family members and facility personnel.
   28. Complies with all Infection Control, Universal Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
   29. Adheres to established confidentiality standards.
   30. Projects a positive and professional image at all times.
   31. All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Able to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.
• Able to carry out duties effectively as they are assigned by the therapist.

Education and Experience:

• High school Diploma or General Degree (GED)
• At least one year experience in Rehabilitation preferred
