Job Description

Summary

Under the direction of the Vice President of Specialty Operations, the Pharmacy Supervisor, Clinical Operations will supervise all specialty pharmacy clinical operational activities and staff. The Pharmacy Supervisor will also be required to assist with the execution of both operational and clinical pharmacist activities; responsible for creating clinical program initiatives, guiding, training, and developing clinical staff to meet the needs of clients and ensure compliance with specialty pharmacy accreditations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ability and knowledge to perform operations and clinical duties assigned to pharmacists
  • Administer and oversee the on-boarding, training, and development of clinical staff
  • Provide continuous feedback to clinical team members ensuring accountability and engaged team members
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, particularly during times of peak volumes
  • Prepare and assist with the maintenance of pharmacy accreditations
  • Work assigned duties and back up both operations and clinical pharmacists when needed
  • Resolve clinical issues and requests from clients and leadership
  • Lead clinical operations with the application of analytics and reporting outcomes that demonstrate value to clients
  • Create, monitor, and implement clinical operations and compliance projects
  • Communicate effectively with departments outside of the pharmacy
  • Monitoring and assigning tasks within the clinical operations queues to ensure quality, production, and service levels are being met
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills by identifying exceptions and assisting with the resolutions
  • Manage clinical team member vacation requests, timecard approvals, and performance reviews
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality guidelines of HIPAA

Education and Experience

  • BS Pharmacy required, PharmD preferred
  • Active/Clear License to practice Pharmacy
  • Ability to become a licensed pharmacist in multiple states as required
  • Specialty pharmacist certification (CSP) is preferred
  • Prior Specialty pharmacy experience is preferred
  • Prior experience with reporting preferred

  • Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
  • Ability to work efficiently without creating distraction or disruption to other employees
  • Ability to relate well and communicate effectively with employees, patients, leadership, and clients
  • Ability to work well with team members and leadership accomplishing goals with little to no supervision
  • Strong organizational and Analytics skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be dependable and maintain levels of confidentiality
  • Ability to interpret complex accreditation requirements and ensure clinical operations are aligned to meet set criteria, ie. URAC, ACHC
  • Knowledge of pharmacy reporting software applications
  • Knowledge of e-mail, fax transmission and copy equipment
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations of clinical programs to leadership and clients

Work Environment / Physical Demands

This position is in a typical office environment which requires prolonged sitting and standing in front of a computer. In addition, this position requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment, including the operation of standard computer and phone equipment.
