Finance Assistant

Gulf Coast Industrial is seeking a highly motivated Finance Assistant to join our Finance Team in Mulberry, Florida. In this position, you would be providing support to our growing organization. The chosen candidate will perform a wide variety of administrative, payroll, and staff support services. To excel in this role, applicants should demonstrate knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, strong organizational skills, a professional and personable attitude, and the ability to work within accounting software. Ultimately, this candidate should have integrity, mathematical and time management skills, and the capability to work well with team members.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly motivated Finance Assistant to join our Finance team. This individual will be responsible for providing support to our on-site & off-site teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

CRITICAL SUCCESS CRITERIA:

• Must be able to learn and utilize finance software.
• Must be able to analyze data from finance documents to determine discrepancies.
• Must be able to utilize computer software on the Office 365 platform to optimize duties.
• Must have an understanding of mathematical principles associated with business finance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Finance Assistant assists the Finance Department in providing support services:

• Collect, sort, and enter daily time sheets and equipment logs into accounting software.
• Identify and obtain supervisory approval of time discrepancies.
• Ability to answer telephone calls professionally, keep up with emails, and make sure messages are handled courteously, accurately, and on time.
• Collecting and reviewing data for reporting.
• Assist with scanning and filing, as needed.
• Suggesting improvements in accuracy, efficiency, and reducing costs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Predominantly this position will require office setting type work at employer-provided computers in climate-controlled locations. The ability to sit and stand for long periods is required for this position. Gulf Coast Industrial is a drug-free workplace. Candidates must be able to pass a post-offer / pre-placement drug screen and job-related employment physicals. Reliable transportation will be required.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of 3 years experience in payroll or related administrative areas preferred
• Ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, monitor own work, and apply feedback to improve performance
• Deadline and detail-oriented
• Understand the flexibility required in a busy office work environment
• Proficient in Excel, Outlook, and Word

WORK HOURS AND BENEFITS:
