Job Summary:

Alterome is currently seeking an exceptional Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) Research Scientist to support Alterome’s DMPK activities on multiple programs targeting oncology therapeutics. As a DMPK Research Scientist (PI), you will provide scientific DMPK understandings to ensure that clinical candidates with acceptable drug development characteristics are identified and appropriately characterized and developed. You will play a key role in the discovery and advancement of Alterome’s development compounds and work with Alterome colleagues to participate in all stages of drug property assessments, from compound screening through to IND submissions. You will represent DMPK on Research and Development teams and regularly interface with internal and external colleagues to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of Preclinical Pharmacokinetics.


How You’ll Contribute to the Team…

  • Conducting and leading studies independently, analyzing, and interpreting data, and relaying findings to project teams.
  • Identifying and understanding the pharmacokinetics (PK) and absorption, metabolism, distribution, and excretion (ADME) characteristics of lead compounds.
  • Identifying ADME liabilities for a given scaffold and establish critical path assays to facilitate compound progression in medicinal chemistry.
  • Assisting the department's leadership in shaping strategic vision and ensuring efficient departmental operations.
  • Serving as a representative for project teams.
  • Providing clear communication and interpretation of results to project and leadership teams.

 

Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, or a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to design the experiments needed to establish and model PK/PD relationships is required.
  • Experience conducting, interpreting, and communicating the results of hands-on experiments and/or those of outsourced ADME assays are essential.
  • Experience as DMPK representative working on a CNS drug discovery program is preferred.
  • An understanding of CNS drug disposition and transport across the blood-brain barrier is required.
  • Experience with hands-on for the in vitro and in vivo DMPK studies is desirable.
  • Experience writing study reports, contributing to IND, IB and other regulatory documents is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, interpersonal, scientific thinking, and problem-solving skills are required.
