About DC Scholars 
DC Scholars Public Charter School was founded in 2012 and opened with grades PS-3. Today, DC Scholars Public Charter School serves approximately 500 students in Preschool - 8th grade. We emphasize academic achievement and firmly believe that we must support students’ emotional, social, and physical growth to improve student learning. Since 2012, DC Scholars PCS has cultivated a like-minded and collaborative team; staff are enthusiastic about constantly setting and reaching a high bar for students. We deeply believe in affirming the identities of students and families as a community school invested in building strong partnerships and relationships.

We are seeking a Director of Information Technology who will employ their technical expertise to ensure that DC Scholars has the computer, systems, and technology necessary for student, employee, and operational success. In addition to technical expertise, the DIT will develop and implement strategies to build computer and technology infrastructure that is innovative, sustainable and scalable to meet present and future needs of the school. They will manage relationships and contracts with third-party vendors and service providers, with a focus on reducing reliance on external resources and services. The DIT will demonstrate a commitment to collegiality and collaboration, working closely with school leaders, and internal and external customers to meet school goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver the highest level of service as the primary point of contact for internal and external customers related to computer and technology needs and issues
  • Manage helpdesk ticketing system. Responsible for service request tickets, queues and ensures ticket closure within established service level agreements and provides effective and timely communication to staff regarding service requests.
  • Identifies potential server-level issues and facilitates escalation of incidents to third-party vendor. Work collaboratively with vendor to troubleshoot and resolve issues with the network
  • Provides operational support of computing systems and related network peripherals, including administration, configuration, technical support, upgrades/updates, maintenance, and user support (printers, telecom devices, etc)
  • Manage fleet readiness including device inventory, deployment, and updates for Windows PCs, laptops, mobile devices (tablets, phones, etc), printers, smart interactive panels, and other classroom or office technology
  • Manage computer and technology projects in varying roles and responsibilities to include research, testing, training, implementation, support and post-implementation defect analysis
  • Responsible for the full lifecycle of employee computer and technology needs from onboarding to offboarding. This includes technology and device distribution and setup in classrooms and offices
  • Maintains user IDs and application access, security and controls, and reviews/audits regularly via Active Directory and third-party software
  • Performs onsite repairs and manages warranty repairs of devices, and other equipment
  • Configuration, maintain, and support office telecom/phone equipment
  • Support school events, working collaboratively with team members to identify technology needs and ensure the appropriate setup and operation (occasional evenings and/or weekend commitments required)
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional experience or the appropriate combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of management-level experience
  • Ability to self-direct and prioritize competing goals, demonstrate flexibility, and drive results
  • Adept at thinking strategically with a customer-centric approach to IT solutions, translating plans into action
  • Knowledge of instructional technology requirements and experience with computer technology and its application in an education setting (K-12 and/or Charter Schools preferred)
  • Manage and coordinate E-Rate and procurement for technology needs
  • Manage technology budget for daily operations and capital projects
  • Advanced knowledge of Computer Networking
  • Advanced knowledge of various software and web applications
  • Advanced knowledge of hardware and peripherals
  • Advanced knowledge in Audio-Visual equipment and systems
  • A+ Certification, A+ Security Certification, and MCP Microsoft Certification
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and take initiative as needed
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and strong decision-making skills
  • Meticulously detail-oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
