A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

As our Chief Operating Officer, you are the right hand of our chief executive officer (CEO). In collaboration, the two of you set the vision for our credit union and then drive us toward that aim. Your role in furthering our vision is to plan, formulate, and recommend policies and programs that help us better deliver our products and services. Having worked your way through the ranks of our industry, you know the ins and outs of credit union operations. Using your extensive knowledge, you develop strategies for improving our processes and then translate those strategies into actionable, short- and long-term goals.

As part of your duties, you coordinate lending, savings, marketing, and promotional activities. You also assist our CEO in managing our investments to ensure that we achieve our growth and profitability targets. The oversight of our human resources is another of your important responsibilities, so you coordinate activities such as hiring, compensation, payroll, employee relations, benefits, and more.

A big picture thinker, you monitor our performance, prepare reports on your findings, and recommend corrective measures whenever they are appropriate. At all times, you adhere to the regulatory requirements for our industry, enforcing compliance and recommending action plans when needed. Under your careful management, our operations run smoothly, and you take great satisfaction in ensuring that our business thrives!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in an executive leadership position
• Thorough knowledge of the credit union industry and credit union operations
• Advanced knowledge about business planning and regulatory issues
