Job Description

G2 is excited to be hiring a Finance Operations Manager who will report directly to our Vice President of Finance and be part of a lean and valued Finance team that supports G2's work and people. This is an excellent opportunity for finance professionals looking to progress their careers within financial services at a firm that strongly emphasizes employee growth and development. The Finance Operations Manager will own several critical financial operations functions including FP&A, resource management (staffing), compensation & other aspects of the financial well-being of the firm. This is a pivotal role that will interact with an array of internal and external senior management level stakeholders and therefore requires strong communication and influencing skills while having the ability to deliver effective, timely resolution of issues. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and will be a key driver of the development/implementation of key financial systems, processes, and controls. This role will be located out of our Boston office on a hybrid basis (3 days/week on-site, 2 remote).

What You'll Do

FP&A and Finance Operations (30%)

  • Responsible for preparing monthly project-level profit and loss statements (currently 88 active mandates)
  • Lead strategic financial planning efforts, including building the annual budget with inputs from key stakeholders
  • Support key financial decisions by producing financial models for recommendations to head of finance and other senior management
  • Provide additional ad hoc financial reports and analyses as needed (KPIs, dashboards)
  • Manage all non-employee relationships (vendors, contractors, partners) - negotiate and review contracts, maintain uniform standards, and ensure accurate monitoring of terms, fees, renewals


Resource Management (30%)
  • Partner with deal leads, senior management, and deal teams to manage all resource allocation (staffing)
  • Engage with senior leaders and managers to understand the scope of work and staffing needs
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc staffing reports
  • Run staffing portion of weekly pipeline meetings
  • Evaluate and forecast staffing optimization/utilization
  • Manage, track, review & approve timesheets


Compensation (30%)
  • Manage and optimize comprehensive compensation and bonus programs to align with organization goals
  • Responsible for monthly commission calculations based on project profitability.
  • Prepare and distribute bi-monthly compensation statements; providing clear communication and addressing any employee inquiries
  • Develop and maintain compensation models including compensation tied to successful deal closings
  • Conduct regular benchmarking and analysis to ensure our compensation package is equitable and competitive


Compliance (10%)
  • In partnership with the VP, Finance and outside counsel & regulatory advisors, manage compliance obligations
  • Prepare and file reporting for compliance initiatives


What We Look For
  • 5-8+ years of practical experience in finance, accounting, or professional services
  • Experience with commissions, preferably in investment banking or other deal-oriented organizations (desired but not required)
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required
  • Demonstrated advanced Excel and data manipulation skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in accounting standards and strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with accounting software and tools; knowledge of QuickBooks online is a plus
  • Experience with time and expense software (Harvest, Concur, etc.)
  • Proven ability to operate independently, synthesize complex data, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
