Job Description

The Inside salesperson is responsible for the inside sales of all items in the product line of the Door and Hardware division of Houston-Starr Company (HSC). The position will also assist estimating and project management with the implementation of smaller orders. When performed to company standards, this position will contribute to the overall organization, which in turn will help the company be more efficient and profitable. The schedule is daylight, no weekends.

 

· Maintain current knowledge of all product lines and items.

· Prepare and maintain all necessary paperwork using a customized computer software system.

· Order all parts that are non-stock necessary to complete orders sold by the counter.

· Greet customers in a friendly manner when they enter the showroom.

· Answer phone calls promptly and courteously.

· Respond to web inquiries in a timely manner.

· Wait on walk-in clientele.

· Help customers select the proper merchandise for their project.

· Pull door hardware for customer orders.

· Assist in loading merchandise for customers when needed.

· Occasionally visit customer’s job sites.

· Ensure all orders are filled accurately.

· Assist Estimating-sales/Project management as needed.

· Maintain and grow relationships with sales reps from HSC’s suppliers.

· Take part in the closing/lock-up procedures at the end of the workday.

· Perform any other duties as assigned by management.

 

The Inside Salesperson is an ongoing, evolving position. Duties may be added, removed, or modified as seen fit by Management.

Performance is measured by:

Achievement of sales goals.

Customer satisfaction.

Accuracy of work performed.

Positive attitude in customer service and in the work area

Requirements:

· High School diploma or equivalent

. Three years of sales work experience. Experience selling building materials is a plus.

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

· Ability to work with minimal supervision.

· Strong communication and technical skills

· Excellent mechanical skills

· Strong computer skills

· Attention to details

Monday-Friday; 7:30AM-4:00PM plus ½ hour unpaid lunch period
