Shift Schedule: Friday-Sunday l 5:30am to 4:00pm (plus breaks)

Who You Are

We are looking for a Sanitation Technician to join our state-of-the-art freeze-drying facility in Allentown, PA! In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the proper sanitation for the building and equipment under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for cleaning building and equipment following a Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS)
  • Understand and use a variety of Sanitation Chemicals to effectively complete assigned tasks
  • Perform Chemical concentration and verify results
  • Know and take steps to correct sanitizer concentrations above Food Contact concentrations
  • Recognize soil types and use proper chemicals for removal
  • Properly use all sanitation equipment safely
  • Recognize and differentiate PH levels for adjusting and neutralizing solutions
  • Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble machine parts, equipment, and other areas
  • Remove waste and debris
  • Assure food safety standards with regards to GMPs and HACCP plan are being followed by self and fellow employees
  • Other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager

Food Safety Responsibilities:

  • Must protect product from contaminations while completing assigned tasks.
  • Ensure cleaning is done correctly.
  • Inspect equipment before and after cleaning for any possible contamination.
  • Report any acts or conditions that may place our product at risk.

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for learning safety rules.
  • Responsible for following safety rules.
  • Follow LOTO Procedures when necessary.

Qualifications:

Must Have

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
  • High School Education.
  • Some college work in Chemistry or Work Safety.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the capability to learn and follow instructions for disassembly and reassembly of food processing equipment.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent safety work habits at all times.
  • Clear and concise communicator, verbal and written.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a team.
  • Overtime, weekend, and holiday work, as required.

Nice to Have

  • 1 - 3 years' experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Some college work in Chemistry or Work Safety.
  • Experience with Sanitation Chemicals.
  • Experience in OSHA programs.
  • Experience in food-manufacturing sanitation preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical Demands: lifting and lowering up to 50 pounds, reaching, standing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, working in high elevations (above 6 feet).
  • Must be able to push, pull, squat, bend, and reach about and below shoulders, repetitive use of hands with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work with allergens that might be present in food environment.
  • Ability to work in hot (70℉ to 90℉), cold (-20℉ to 40℉), noisy, dusty, and wet environmental working conditions.
  • Able to wear safety PPE (hard hat, body harness, face shield, steel-toed boots).
  • Able to adhere to GMP requirements (hair/beard nets, uniforms, hygiene).
