Sr. Staff Accountant

The Sr. Staff Accountant reports to the Controller. Maintains and controls the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.

Essential Job Duties

• Prepare journal entries by maintaining files and records and reconciling accounts.
• Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including but not limited to bank statements, fixed assets, employer’s benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses.
• Conduct financial statement analysis, maintain accurate data, and find and correct inaccurate entries.
• Prepare financial reports for audit, regulatory agencies, and stockholders; Manage general ledger and assist with audits.
• Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Protect organization’s integrity by keeping information confidential.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements, budget performance, and interim financial reporting.
• Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Education and Experience

• 2 to 5 years’ experience in general ledger is preferred.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration or Accounting from an accredited college or university.
• Advanced Excel skills required with proficiency in advanced functions such as VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables. Experience working with large data sets.
• Oracle NetSuite software experience a plus.

Physical Demands

• This job is primarily sedentary work. Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 90% of the time.
• Occasionally move about the office.
• Manual dexterity to constantly operate a computer and other office equipment.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Constant close visual acuity to view a computer screen.
• Auditory acuity to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
• Constant communication to exchange accurate information.
• Must be able to work in an open office environment.
