JOB OVERVIEW

Six Mile, LLC (SML) is seeking Purchasing/GFE (Government Furnished Equipment) Manager to provide support to a base operations support services contract in Kodiak, AK! This position ensures our inventory is expertly managed, and our purchasing processes are finely tuned for maximum cost-effectiveness. If you have a keen eye for detail, analytical prowess, and exceptional communication skills to forge strong partnerships with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Develop and implement inventory control strategies to optimize inventory levels and minimize stockouts or excess inventory.
  • Monitor inventory levels and track inventory movement to identify potential discrepancies, variances, or issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (such as sales, operations, and finance) to forecast inventory needs and establish inventory targets.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials, goods, or products to meet production or customer demand.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing, favorable payment terms, and favorable contract terms.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and other external partners to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess the accuracy and integrity of inventory records and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Utilize inventory management software and systems to track and monitor inventory levels, costs, and performance metrics.
  • Analyze inventory data and generate reports to provide insights and recommendations to management on inventory control strategies and purchasing decisions.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve purchasing processes and procedures to streamline operations, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field or a minimum of 5 years related experience.
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing or Inventory Control Manager, preferably in a base operations, military, manufacturing, retail, or distribution environment.
  • Proficiency in using MAXIMO inventory management software and systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to effectively analyze inventory data and identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to effectively resolve inventory-related issues and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions, while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Understanding of financial principles and cost analysis to evaluate the financial impact of inventory and purchasing decisions.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations related to purchasing and inventory management.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screening.
