Job Description

Hello! Thank you for your interest in joining the Wellspring team as a Foster Care Case Manager. As a statewide nonprofit serving families and children in need of support, we take a whole-person approach to our organization and delivery of our services — because we believe we must find the strengths in people and build on these for lasting change to occur.

As a Foster Care Case Manager with the Wellspring foster care team in the Alpena area, you will be part of a team committed to delivering exceptional services to children and families in and around the Alpena area. You will bring professional experience working with children and families. You will have a bachelor's or master's degree (preferred) in social work or a related human services field, a current driver's license, car registration and auto insurance. You will also be reliable, and have a responsible attitude, a compassionate approach and a commitment to quality in everything you do.

As a Foster Care Case Manager, here are some of the responsibilities you will be asked to perform:

  • Coordinate the development, review and implementation of services, case management, safety/behavior intervention plans and treatments provided to individuals served.
  • Coordinate all community referrals, resources and services to the family.
  • Oversee all services provided to individuals and their families, monitor the quality of care, ensure compliance with contractual terms and monitor regulatory program compliance.
  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of required medical and dental services for all foster children.
  • Visit each assigned child at least once each month in the foster home.
  • Maintain accurate records, confidentiality and timely reports.
  • Prepare court reports and petitions, and attend court hearings to provide testimony to support the permanency, safety and well-being of the child/family.
  • Coordinate visitation and supervise children with parents, siblings and relatives.
  • Act as a liaison with schools and other community agencies.
  • Attend staff meetings and treatment planning meetings as required.
  • Administer drug screens.
  • Transport clients when needed.
  • Engage and encourage family member participation in services and case planning to address needs.
  • Provide emergency, on-call interventions after hours and on holidays, as required.
  • Integrate learning from required DHHS training into day-to-day responsibilities.

Why Choose Wellspring?

You may be wondering why Wellspring would be a good option for you. Here are some of the benefits of being part of the foster care team with Wellspring:

  • You won't be alone. You'll be part of a dedicated team and connect through regular meetings.
  • You'll receive supervision weekly or as needed.
  • You'll have support from our support staff with administrative duties such as filing and requesting documentation.
  • You'll have access to professional development opportunities.
  • You'll be able to enroll in benefits, PTO, Health, Vision, Dental Insurance, 403b Retirement plans, SupportLinc (mental health services), etc
  • You'll be working home-based and responsible to travel to meet clients and for meetings
