Summary:
We seek a Construction Project Manager with cost estimating experience to support our growing federal government practice in the Arlington, VA area. Qualified candidates should have experience in master planning, design, estimating, and scheduling with for large and complex government construction projects. Candidates must demonstrate excellent soft skills with clients in both written and oral communications.  The ability to thrive in politically challenging public projects is a requirement.  This position requires the incumbent to be on site (not work remotely) 5 days per week.   
    
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Participates in meetings for the purpose of monitoring and reporting on the status of the cost, scope, and schedule of the project.
  • Performs as “owner representative’ and plays a meaningful role in developing construction cost estimates for vertical and horizontal construction projects.
  • Works with other estimators and project cost analysts in preparing recommendations, determining scope of work, reviewing change orders, and making recommendations to clients,
  • Participates in negotiating contracts, monitoring budgeting and cost control, ensures scope control, and general quality control of all assigned technical projects / planning of new construction projects.
  • Reviews project schedule to confirm validity and accuracy.
  • Manages project communications and documentation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of industry standards and trends.
  • Coordinates stakeholder interaction both internally and externally. 
  • Develops master program schedules and manages to that schedule.
  • Reviews and reports on project status.
  • Coordinates and participates project meetings.
  • Visits project sites to evaluate progress and identify and help to resolve issues.
  • Exercise skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issues.
  • Manages multiple projects at a time.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field with 3+ years of experience in master planning, programming, and developing & delivering large, complex facilities or capital projects.  .
  • Experience with USACE, AFCEE, NAVFAC or DOE construction programs is a plus
  • Experience with MII, PACES, RSMeans, Success Estimator or similar estimating software applications is desired  
  • Ability to think creatively and independently, lead projects, task assignments and work as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team.
  • Able to participate in multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with Client, Engineering, Construction, and Vendor personnel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills is a must.
  • Solid computer skills, MS Office suite of software, ability to quickly learn company software
  • Strong team player willing to assist other team members.
