JOB SUMMARY - On-site position
The Human Resources and Administrative Manager is responsible for managing and administering all areas of the organisation's human resources and operational activities. The position will support the full employee life cycle, including recruiting and hiring; managing onboarding, including employment agreements, benefits enrollment and support; staff performance evaluation management; and off-boarding staff. The position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented person with excellent interpersonal skills who exhibits a high degree of confidentiality and discretion. The Human Resources and Administrative Manager is a member of a leadership team.

This is an "on-site" position.

Responsibilities

● Working closely with the leadership team to support the hiring process for all employed positions by creating strong job descriptions, model employee agreements, and hiring documentation.

● Responsible for identifying recruitment sources and building an exceptional and diverse candidate pool.

● Working closely with the Corsmember Development team, supporting the engagement life cycle of the corpsmember from hiring to exit from the program.

● Assist with using the HRIS system, resolving issues and recommending enhancements.

● Oversees new hire orientation processes for staff, including benefits and payroll. Works with the Payroll Clerk to ensure all appropriate new employee tasks are completed on time and accurately.

● Administers benefits, updates, and changes with support from Payroll.

● Identifies and implements upgrades to HR processes and systems to create efficiencies and to better educate staff on available benefits/programs.

● Supports employee relations by serving as a link between management and employees; handles questions about employment agreements and helps resolve work-related problems.

● Administers employee leaves, requests for accommodations, and workers' compensation claims.

● Develop and revise guidelines and policies related to human resource practices and compliance (e.g. employee handbook, required training, etc.)

● Informs management regarding governmental regulations/laws and compliance issues.

● Oversee staff and members' performance review process and update these processes as needed.

● Manages personnel records and records retention.

● Works with leadership to analyze and recommend competitive compensation and benefits policies in the labor market and ensure compliance with legal requirements.

● Advises managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment and recommends changes in internal practices related to regulations and legal updates around employment and hiring.

● Manages off-boarding process, including conducting exit interviews and collecting other exit data for analysis.

● Manages unemployment claims and processes related correspondence and documentation.

● Partners with the organization’s Safety Officer to ensure workplace safety compliance according to local, state, and federal legislation.

● Performs other tasks and analyses as assigned.

 

Qualifications: On-site

● Minimum of five years of experience in Human Resources

● Bachelor’s degree and/or certification of Senior Professional or Professional in HR, or equivalent combination of education and experience

● Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws

● High level of discretion and ability to manage confidential information.

● Self-starter with independent problem-solving skills

● Sound business judgment.

● Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills

● Strong verbal communication skills in both one-on-one and group settings

● Strong writing skills

● Non-profit experience a plus

● Demonstrated knowledge of HRIS systems

In coordination with job training and educational attainment, SFCC offers wrap-around services, such as housing assistance and mental health and wellness referrals, to reduce social and financial barriers and uplift low‐income and disadvantaged communities in San Francisco. SFCC focuses on two job‐training pathways: natural resources management and recycling. Natural resources management projects include habitat restoration, fire fuel reduction, plant care and farming, landscaping maintenance, and trail building. Recycling projects include the collection of and education around recycling beverage containers, e‐waste, waste tires, and used oil.
