Job Description

Our growing structural engineering firm, based in Plano, is seeking a full-time HR professional with the energy and talent to enhance the firm’s effectiveness by providing human resources support to the team. A successful candidate will be an employee advocate, responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management. Acts as an employee champion and change agent focusing on training and career development. Provides guidance to management on human resource-related issues. Assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and communicates needs proactively with management.

Direct Responsibilities

  • Provides balanced focus on employee advocacy and compliance by developing tools and techniques to improve the employee experience.
  • Focuses on employees as internal customers to help train and progress using development tools so that employees can see their career trajectory.
  • Provides support to employees by answering questions on various HR related topics and resolves employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations. Works closely with employees and management to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Develop strategies to improve the candidate’s experience throughout the recruiting process (identifies, recruits, and hires new employees) following HR procedures.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to include: coaching; counseling; career development; administering benefits and corrective action.
  • Conducts new employee orientation and exit interviews.
  • Leads orientation and onboarding activities.
  • Maintains confidential HR files ensuring files are kept up to date and that access is limited to staff who are authorized to access the information.
  • Handles various Human Resources programs and procedures, such as, the termination process and all related paperwork, including unemployment claims. Represents the company in all unemployment claim matters.
  • Maintains and creates job descriptions for all employee roles and ensures competitive wages and benefits.
  • Utilizes succession planning programs and integrates search activities to align with the succession plans and talent/competency gaps.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies. Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures for PSE Employee Handbook.
  • Supports organizational training and development efforts and makes recommendations based upon performance and development plans.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees. Reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Ensures maintenance and communication of records and compliance activities as required by law or local governing bodies.

Requirements

  • BA/BS College Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, or similar experience
  • 5-10 years' experience in a Human Resources related position
  • SPHR certification
  • SHRM-SCP certification, preferred
  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Aptitude in problem-solving
  • Desire to work as a team with a results-driven approach
