Job Description

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide Onsite Technical Support to a client in the NYC Metro Area. The candidate should be a motivated individual looking to work in a stimulating, fast-paced and fun atmosphere. Responsibilities will be diverse and often require personal judgment.

The future team member would work mostly at a client location in White Plains, NY and occasionally from our Englewood Cliffs, NJ office or another clients' office in the NYC Metro Area. Currently we support 300+ clients in a wide array of industries. Access to transportation is required to travel to clients in NY and NJ.

In our industry, and more specifically the MSP sector, it's difficult to capture all facets of a position, but we'll try our best.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • To maintain a first-class level of customer service insuring that all customers are treated efficiently and in an appropriate manner.
  • Proficient at designing, building, migrating and maintaining:
    • Business networks and systems, including hardware.
    • Windows Servers and Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy
    • Secure and redundant infrastructures, i.e. AV, firewalls, high-availability solutions.
    • Financial Application maintenance and troubleshooting i.e. Quickbooks, Microsoft Dynamics GP, Sage 300 ERP or similar
    • Microsoft Exchange and email security/filtering solutions.
    • Office 365 - licensing and administration of common apps such as OneDrive, Teams, and Sharepoint, and support for office applications
    • MS Azure - Familiarity with Azure AD and related cloud applications
  • Some other technical facets, details or requirements of the position may include, but not limited to:
    • Manage and execute projects to meet deadlines and client expectations.
    • Guide Systems Engineers on the remote and field engineering teams.
    • Configure & manage Windows Servers & Exchange Servers with PowerShell
    • Administer, configure, maintain, and upgrade VMware servers
    • Administer, configure, maintain, and upgrade Citrix XenApp & XenDesktop environments
    • Administer and configure NAS and SAN technologies from various vendors
    • Install, configure, and troubleshoot network equipment - routers, firewall, switches, wireless access points, and SSL-VPN setups from various vendors, such as Cisco, Extreme, HP, Meraki, Netgear, SonicWALL, UniFi.
    • Provide Disaster Recovery and backup solutions and support using eVault, Zerto, Veeam, Shadow Protect, and others.
    • Diagnose and resolve unique, nonrecurring problems associated with application software and operating systems; determine the source of problems and classify their level, priority and nature.
    • Maintain detailed inventory of installed software, manage software licensing and create policies and procedures for upgrades.
    • Work with hardware and software vendors to verify timely product delivery and ensure that new equipment is installed and ready to operate on schedule.
    • Meticulous documentation of procedures, standards, best practices configurations, settings, installation sequences and back-out instructions.
    • Significant communication with team members and stakeholders.
    • Help develop and guide other systems engineers to their full potential.

This job absolutely requires the following - do not apply if you don't have:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Substantial experience with Windows Servers
  • Strong understanding of fundamental networking concepts
  • Strong understanding of architecting and configuring Microsoft Windows OS technology including AD Forests, Domains, Trusts, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and Organizational Units
  • Clearly demonstrated knowledge and experience with VMware and Citrix XenApp
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • A drivers license and vehicle of your own and the ability to travel to client locations

You're probably right for this job if you have:

  • 5 + years technical experience relevant to the above
  • A solid and well thought out diagnostic mindset
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment (servers, computers, etc.)
  • Experience with C-Suite high level executive desktop support i.e. hedge fund, law office, investment firm, etc
  • MSP experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with the ConnectWise Suite of products is helpful but not a requirement
