Part-Time SportsPlex Coordinator

This position also includes a complimentary membership at the MJCC

The schedule is varied based on the soccer league's schedule; generally, Sunday is 3-6 pm, and Tuesday and Wednesday are 6 pm-10:15pm.  Additional hours may be available as needed.

Job Summary:

The Part-time SportsPlex Coordinator organizes and promotes the Mittleman Jewish Community Center soccer leagues and assists in other activities that take place in the SportsPlex. This position reports to the Assistant Executive Director.

Organization Skills:

1. Coordinate schedule for adult soccer teams. Communicate times and dates with team captains, the MJCC Marketing and Communications Department, and the company that provides the referees. 
2. Ensure that team registrations, payments, waiver forms, and referee finances are tracked and collected appropriately. 
3. Work side by side with our referee scheduler to ensure referees are scheduled appropriately for all matches, and complaints or issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
4. Work with the MJCC Marketing and Communications Department to promote the various activities in the SportsPlex, including soccer leagues and drop-in lacrosse.
5. Train new SportsPlex attendants.

Customer Service Skills:

1. Provide excellent customer service while working with the teams, referees, members, guests, and community members at all times.
2. Work with the various teams to provide subs as needed to avoid forfeited games.
3. Work as the main Sportsplex attendant during soccer league games and other rentals as needed.

Facility Care:

1. Supervise Sportsplex facility use; ensure the proper and safe use of facility equipment; enforce facility rules and policies. This includes ensuring everyone using the space is courteous and respectful of others.
2. Set up and move equipment as needed; ensure that equipment is appropriately maintained and is in safe working condition.  
3. Ensure that the SportsPlex is clean and inviting for all activities. This includes maintaining the desk and side areas outside the main field. 
4. Provide minor field maintenance, including sweeping and leveling the playing field, painting new lines, and minor net repairs

1. Report hazards and unsafe conditions.
2.  Other Duties as Assigned/Needed.

Qualifications: 

Any combination of experience and training demonstrates the ability to perform the position's duties.  This would typically include:

1. Prior relevant experience (e.g. leagues, intramurals, coaching) in a sports or camp setting.      
2. Experience or the ability to effectively use Microsoft Office applications and databases, maintain records, compose forms and reports, and operate standard office machines.
3. Familiarity with computer databases and enrollment programs and a willingness to learn Daxko.
4. Knowledge and familiarity with a variety of sports.
5. Ability to work independently
6. Ability to remain flexible and adapt to program needs
7. Ability to provide excellent customer service, including the ability to work well with participants and their family members and respond promptly to inquiries from participants and their families
8. Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED
9. Strong attention to detail
10. Excellent organizational skills
11. Ability to effectively communicate with all other MJCC departments.

Physical Requirements: 

1. Duties are performed in a Sportsplex center, field, or gymnasium environment that is often noisy and full of people. 
2. Duties require the ability to remain alert and watchful.
3. Duties require the ability to lift up to 35 pounds to set up and move equipment.
4. Duties require the ability to demonstrate sports and activity movements and the proper and safe use of equipment.  This typically involves the stamina to exercise vigorously and push, pull, reach, grip, bend, stooping, run, and walk.
5. Normal-range acuity in vision and hearing is required.
