We are seeking an attorney with some legal work experience at a specialized insurance claim operation, to join our claims team. The successful applicant will supervise outside legal counsel on high dollar litigated claims preparing for settlement or trial. Some travel will be necessary to negotiate, mediate and attend trials. RESPONSIBILITIES
· Supervise outside legal counsel on high dollar litigated claims
· Claim preparation for settlement or trial
· Conduct timely and thorough investigations per company procedures
· Review files on a timely diary for reserving adequacy and resolution plans
· Complete timely and accurate reports
· Attend mediations and trials as merited
REQUIREMENTS
· Law degree with a good academic record
· Admitted to a state bar
· Superior negation skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Travel for mediations and trials
· Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs and an aptitude to learn new programs
· Abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, and compliance with DMC risk management controls
PREFERRED SKILLS
· Insurance claim experience
