Description:

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for detailed design of the mechanical portion of a design package. Essential Functions of the role include:


Engineering, designing, and drafting furnaces, heaters, ovens, and diffusion heating elements.

  • Review the Sales generated furnace and control specification sheets.
  • Attend design review meeting when required.
  • Research customers needs and expectations and determine what furnace design is the closest related to the meet the customers requirements.
  • When required, develop an approval drawing for the customer to review and approve the design for production

Project management

  • Review incoming sales orders for complete and accurate information
  • Develop a schedule for the mechanical and electrical design completion, and release of purchase requisitions
  • Hold a design review with sales manufacturing and quality as needed prior to releasing jobs to the shop

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or at least 10 years’ experience in related manufacturing industry or equivalent work experience in related areas
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, Autocad software, Visual Manufacturing
  • Ability to produce, read and understand shop drawings, and read a tape measure to 1/64” and use a caliper or micrometer
  • Working knowledge of sheet metal, structural steel and furnace system components

  • Computer including AutoCAD software, ERP and Microsoft Office products
  • General small hand tools (drills, screw drivers, cutting tools, etc.)
  • Materials used include plastic, metal, aluminum, various types and sizes of wire, RCF insulation, and caulking silicone
