Director of Finance & Accounting

Summary of Job’s Purpose:

The Director of Finance & Accounting will lead the strategy, design, and execution of Stealth Startup’s key Finance & Accounting initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Finance & Accounting will build their team to execute on all financial and accounting needs of the company from transaction accounting through payroll, AP and AR, with the help of some outsourced partners. As a seasoned professional with a broad skillset, pragmatic approach and high EQ, the right candidate will bring experience and fresh perspective to the finance team and lead by example. This role manages the day-to-day operations of the Finance & Accounting team with a focus on day to day operational execution,

Major responsibilities

• Work directly with the CFO to manage, plan, direct all finance and accounting operations
• Assess current accounting operations, identify areas for improvement and provide management with information vital to the decision-making process
• Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of general ledger in accordance with GAAP, policies and procedures
• Partner with our outsourced accounting partners to prepare, review and finalize our monthly bordereaux reports owed to partners.
• Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
• Prepare and publish timely monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements as well as own responsibility for the consolidation and accuracy of bordereaux reporting to appropriate partners.
• Coordinate with outside accounting firm to direct the preparation of tax returns
• Manage cash flows by making payments, tracking transactions and regularly reviewing balances
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Support month-end and year-end close process
• Manage and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Monitor debt levels and present executive team and partners with monthly financial reports
• Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
• Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
• Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, G/L analysis
• Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and methodologies
• Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

Requirements and Skills

• Six years progressive accounting experience
• Certified Public Accountant / CPA preferred
• Month end closing experience
