Vermont SportsCar is known worldwide for building and campaigning some of the most sophisticated race cars on the planet. In addition to our championship winning race teams, Vermont SportsCar also engages in a variety of Classic Cars. The Classic Car Technician is a key hands-on member of our team responsible for ensuring these projects are complete on time, on budget, and to the extremely high level of craftsmanship and professionalism every project at Vermont SportsCar is held to.

The Classic Car Technician requires a well-rounded individual with a diverse background working on all manner of projects from classic and exotic cars to unique and rare street cars. Strong attention to detail is paramount as is a self-starting attitude and the ability to self-manage one’s time.

Position Goals:

Critical aspects of the Classic Car Technician position require performing hands-on mechanical repairs and builds as necessary while also working with the Classic Car Program Manager to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget and to the highest standards set by Vermont Sportscar.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Perform work to the highest degree and attention to detail.
Engage in the hands on repair and/or maintenance of a broad range of vehicles from exotic/vintage cars to classic street cars as necessary.
Perform research to enact effective repairs or request necessary parts or supplies on a wide range of vehicles as necessary.
Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
Able to manage time according to project goals and needs.
Document findings and keep track of project progress.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) or related software.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Reliability and punctuality are strongly desired for the success of this role.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED is required.
Minimum of five to six (5-6) years’ hands-on experience performing diagnostics and repairs in a professional workshop environment. Prior experience with vintage and/or exotic cars a plus.
VSC Senior Technicians may be considered for this position (Specialist)
Performs work under minimal supervision.
Handles complex issues and problems; refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, individuals may frequently be required to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly required to talk and hear.
The individual must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus as required.
