iStaffing is hiring a Environmental Health and Safety Specialist in Fontana. The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist ensures compliance with OSHA, industry standards, and state regulations by implementing company policies and procedures. They work with management to improve safety and health in the workplace and recommend new approaches for continual improvement in business goals and industry standards.

  • Collaborates with HR, Operations, and cross-functional teams to establish safe and efficient work environments.
  • Drives change and implements new safety programs by conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and analyzing safety data.
  • Coordinates the forklift driver certification program, including tracking certification expiration and initiating train-the-trainer sessions.
  • Partners with Operations management for building maintenance and vendor services to ensure safety compliance.
  • Develops and implements safety programs such as Accident Prevention Plan, Injury and Illness Prevention Program, and Emergency Disaster Preparedness.
  • Oversees warehouse safety efforts, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
  • Conducts facility inspections to identify and correct potential hazards, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Administers Worker’s Compensation Claims Management program in partnership with HR, including investigations and recurrence prevention.
  • Assists HR with Workers Compensation reports, leave of absences, and accommodations.
  • Provides assistance in emergency situations and coordinates first aid through safety triage vendors.
  • Manages safety training, including onboarding, for all employees, contractors, and agency workers.
  • Conducts regular scans of the warehouse floor for hazards and security violations.
  • Leads a Safety Committee to promote communication and awareness of safety issues.
  • Purchases and maintains safety inventory items such as first aid supplies and PPE.
  • Conducts annual emergency response drills, reports results, and implements corrective actions.
  • Implements safety incentive programs and promotes employee recognition.
  • Utilizes various communication tools to raise safety awareness, such as presentations, bulletin boards, and emails.
  • Conducts investigations for accidents/illness reports using comprehensive techniques.
  • Manages the company’s surveillance system and provides video findings for HR and Operations investigations.
  • Assists in issuing company badges for onsite security access for employees, temporary workers, and visitors.

Qualifications: 

  • Understanding of worker health and safety laws and regulations, physical assessment, and ergonomics
  • Effective presentation skills for training, with strong communication abilities
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication, capable of interacting with all organizational levels
  • Skillful at building positive relationships and earning trust with management and colleagues
  • Experience in multi-shift operations preferred
  • Capable of writing clear and concise reports
  • Travel required (25%) to all warehouse facilities
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge in surveillance camera monitoring software
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Infolink or forklift software knowledge a plus
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in environmental health and safety, risk management, or related fields, preferably in logistics or warehouse settings.
  • At least three (3) years of supervisory experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety Environment and Health, Loss Prevention, or related field is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification is advantageous.

Judgment and Reasoning:

  • Proficient in identifying, troubleshooting, and swiftly resolving issues with sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and reasoning skills, knowing when to escalate matters promptly when necessary.
Company Description
Must be able to commute to job site on a daily basis.
Schedule is Monday to Friday, must be able to work weekends depending on work load
