Job Description

Position Summary

The Anti-Trafficking Case Manager will be responsible for providing comprehensive case management services utilizing a trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach to individuals identified as high-risk for human trafficking within the community and those seeking safety in our domestic violence shelters in Summit and Medina Counties. The primary focus of this role is to assess clients' needs, develop individualized service plans, and coordinate supportive services to assist survivors in achieving safety, stability, and empowerment.

Job Description

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; or minimum of 2 years of experience working with survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, or sexual assault.
  • Knowledge of human trafficking dynamics, trauma-informed care principles, and relevant legal and social service systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Sensitivity to issues of confidentiality, cultural humility, and ethical boundaries.
  • Maintain valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigations).

Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify survivors of human trafficking (sex trafficking and labor trafficking survivors) and understand their unique needs, vulnerabilities, and goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans in collaboration with clients, addressing immediate safety concerns, long-term goals, and necessary supportive services.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing trauma, including safety planning and accessing emergency services.
  • Connect clients with a comprehensive range of services, including but not limited to housing, legal assistance, medical care, mental health support, substance abuse treatment, and educational/vocational training.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure their rights are respected and their needs are addressed within the legal, social services, and healthcare systems.
  • Assists with day-to-day operations including providing shelter coverage, maintaining/contributing to health and safety of everyone in shelter, transporting survivors when needed, facilitates problem-solving of in-house conflicts, and encourages and models positive shelter interactions by connecting with each survivor daily
  • Develop and facilitate groups to residents in shelter and identified survivors in the community on coping strategies, the impact of trauma, and harm reduction strategies.
  • Develop and deliver educational workshops and outreach activities to raise awareness about human trafficking, screening tools to identify survivors, and available resources for survivors within the community.
  • Work collaboratively with the Summit Regional Human Trafficking Task Force, local law enforcement, government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance services, improve coordination, and promote a holistic response to human trafficking.
  • Assists with on-scene support for human trafficking survivors during anti-trafficking operations conducted through the SRHTTF when requested to coordinate shelter access and follow-up care.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, progress notes, and statistical data in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and emerging research related to trauma-informed care, sex trafficking labor trafficking, and the intersections with domestic violence
  • Provide training and support to staff and volunteers on identifying and responding to human trafficking

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adheres to Service Excellence standards at all times
  • Represent Hope & Healing agencies, Battered Women’s Shelter and Rape Crisis Center, by participating in community activities, coalitions and taskforce groups as requested or assigned by supervisor.
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Work environment: This position will be in a facility with victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. In addition to interaction with the survivors, the employee may have interactions with families of these individuals, the assailants and law enforcement.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time, exempt position. Occasional evening and weekend work hours will be required. This position has a flexible schedule for the purposes of meeting the responsibilities of the role.
