Job Description
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide support in project design, specifications, and plan development for utility and distributed scale solar projects.
- Conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control reviews to ensure compliance with company quality standards.
- Facilitate meetings with stakeholders and clients, actively participating in discussions and addressing concerns.
- Collaborate with the power electrical team to create models, analyze systems, and generate reports for solar projects.
- Perform Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using ETAP or SKM software.
- Analyze wire in trenches using software like AmpCalc or CYMCAP, and conduct grounding studies using CDEGS or SKM Ground Mat.
- Conduct harmonic and transient studies, and utilize PSSE, PSCAD, or PSLF for modeling purposes.
- Assist in relay settings for solar projects and contribute to the creation of medium voltage electrical drawings and calculations.
- Design medium voltage conductors and develop electrical collection system and substation one-line diagrams.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of PV system components and stay informed about emerging technologies and industry standards.
- Review shop drawings, respond to requests for information (RFIs), and provide general construction support services.
- Participate in public involvement activities, including the preparation of reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual materials.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 years' experience working as an Electrical Engineer for an engineering firm or EPC.
- At least 2 years of project management experience is required.
- Preferred certification or willingness to pursue certification as an Engineer-in-training (EIT).
- Familiarity with CYMCAP, AmpCalc, SKM, ETAP, EMTP-RV, PSSE, PSCAD, or CDEGS software is desired.
- Understanding of engineering principles and renewable energy systems.
- Basic knowledge of grounding studies, coordination, short circuit, and arc flash studies.
- Proficiency in MS Excel for data management.
- Experience with AutoCAD, manual drafting, and electrical line drawing.
- Passion for the renewable energy industry and project development.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with excellent organizational and time management skills.
