Job Description

AECOM Buildings + Places Architectural team is seeking a Transit Architecture Lead to join our West Region team.

AECOM Buildings + Places West is a vibrant fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics, and asset management for design and infrastructure projects.

The Transit Architecture Lead will be working on local and nationwide transit projects.

Job Summary

We are looking for someone with demonstrated creativity, foresight and mature judgment, someone capable of providing technical leadership across all Transportation Architecture submarkets. This person will lead the growth of our technical capabilities across the country, ensuring success through strong collaboration with other market sectors and practice groups.

The primary responsibilities will be to maintain and grow client relationships within the Transportation Architecture sector, overseeing and leading multiple projects and programs through all phases of planning, design, and construction in addition to contributing to major pursuits.

Major Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Planning, organizing, and implementing all design activities for the Transportation Architecture sector across all disciplines.

Assist in the development of proposals and gives presentations to potential clients.

Representing the company in local and national professional associations and conferences.

Establishing and sustaining relationships with key partners and consultants to support the Transportation Architecture business.

Participating strategic/key proposals, contracting and teaming negotiations; and periodically acting as Project Lead on specific strategic/key projects.

 

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements

    • BA/BS + 12 years of experience, including 4 years of leadership, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Licensed Architect

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institute
    • 15 years of architectural experience, 10 years of architectural design, including 4 years of leadership, on transit station projects, including the preparation of construction documents for stations and portals;
    • Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with senior-level architects and/or designers within the company and with key officials of other organizations and companies, and is skilled in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues.
    • Strong understanding of construct-ability, proficiency in developing technical details and specification manuals, and a thorough knowledge of building systems and construction detailing
    • Expert knowledge of BRT and Rail Design Criteria, Standard Drawings, and details
    • Expert in Local and National Codes
    • Experience designing large and medium multimodal facilities
    • Experience designing facilities with pedestrian bridges
    • Must be a self-motivated individual with good communication skills and be able to multi-task
    • Working knowledge of REVIT and ability to work with REVIT CADD
    • Ability to lead the project development from conceptual design to construction, coordinating with consultants, including client liaison. 
    • Demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature architectural judgment in anticipating and solving routine and unusual structure/design problems, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse activities.
    • Ability to work within a dynamic multi-disciplinary in-house consultant team
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Strong problem-identification and problem-resolution skills
    • Demonstrated strong creativity in conceptual design and technical design skills
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Ability to work with various municipalities for permitting and development approvals process
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning

    Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $250,000.
