The Financial Aid Officer provides support to the Financial Aid Office through the processing of the Federal Direct Loan, Federal Pell Grant and State of California Grant programs. The successful candidate must possess strong background and experience in Financial Aid, along with excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact effectively with students and staff.
Typical Responsibilities:
Completes verification process for selected Title IV applicants
Provides superior customer service to all applicants and their families
Awards Federal Title IV aid to eligible students
Monitors daily COD rejects resolving processing errors to insure monthly reconciliation of the Federal Direct and Pell Grant programs.
Attends conferences and webinars to maintain knowledge of Federal and State regulations.
Coordinates the posting of financial aid with the Billing Office.
Collaborates with the Billing Office staff to insure timely delivery of funds to students.
Monitors student Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) for financial aid recipients.
Communicates with students regarding their SAP statuses.
Maintains compliance with Federal and State regulations.
Meets with students to resolve funding questions or related issues.
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:
- Extensive background and experience in FInancial Aid is required.
Broad knowledge and experience in state and federal compliance
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of COD and the CSAC Webgrants systems.
Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping.
Ethical / Honest - evidence of the practice of a high level confidentiality.
Excellent organizational skills.
Service and Action oriented – does what it takes to meet the expectations of customers.
Collaborative – enlists information from all sources to ensure the best solution to an issue.
Experience with Colleague strongly desired.
