JOB TITLE: High Alpha Training Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Learning Outcomes

REPORTS TO: Chief Learning Officer

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, exempt

SUMMARY: The High Alpha Training Specialist supports a portfolio of High Alphas (Chapter Presidents responsible for the execution of a Chapter’s goals, policies and procedures). By providing one-to-one mentoring, delivering live training within Lambda Chi Academy, evaluating assignments, and addressing concerns, the High Alpha Training Specialist plays a critical role in supporting our undergraduate leaders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a detailed understanding of the High Alpha’s role, and the training available to support that role.
  • Proactively mentor a designated number of Chapter Presidents.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the Chapter President’s annual plan.
  • Develop a deep understanding of all learning available within the Lambda Chi Academy.
  • Deliver online training sessions for Leading Teams, a specialized program in Lambda Chi Academy for High Alphas.
  • Assess assignments for Leadership Ready and Leading Teams.
  • Serve as the first line of communication for a designated number of Chapters.
  • Reactively respond to inquiries.
  • Record Chapter meetings and outcomes on Salesforce.
  • Ensure the wider Learning Outcomes team is kept fully up to date on the latest developments within Chapters.
  • Build a strong understanding of the various resources and assistance provided in Officer Hubs.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to promote Chapter activities.
  • Support and represent the OOA during events and offsite visits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required.
  • Knowledge of fraternity/sorority life and Chapter operations.
  • One year of fraternity/sorority advising is preferred, but recent graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and Zoom.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

A High Alpha Training Specialist will be responsible for a set number of Chapters. The following metrics are based on this number.

  1. Operational Planning
  • Utilizing the Chapter Plan within the Planning section of Lambda Chi Academy, ensure 85% of High Alphas have an operational plan.
  1. Training
    • Complete Leadership Ready and Leading Teams – designated training for the High Alpha, within The Lambda Chi Academy.
    • Acquire an in-depth understanding of the core responsibilities of a High Alpha, which include Planning, Budgeting, and Rostering.
    • Develop a deep understanding of the tools available to a High Alpha, including but not limited to: “Cross Functional Teams template”; “Steps to running effective meetings”; “Robert’s Rules”; “Stakeholder Matrix template”; “Leadership Balance Sheet”; “The 4 Bs of Leadership”; “The Skill/Will Matrix”, “The ABC of motivation” and “The Trust Equation.”
    • Ensure 70% of Chapters have at least three completions within Stead Leadership College (a leadership development program within Lambda Chi Academy).
    • Develop a deep understanding of the tools available to general members. In Ideal Man, these include: “My Resilience Action plan”, “Caring for my mental health”, “How to be a good team player” and “The Personal action plan for getting involved.”
    • Ensure every Chapter achieves 50% completion of Ideal Man (a self-development program within Lambda Chi Academy).
  2. Events
    • Ensure 90% of High Alphas attend High Alpha Summit
    • Ensure 95% of Chapters are represented at General Assembly
  3. Engagement
    • Group A. On a weekly basis, support ten High Alphas. Each meeting is to last 45-60mins.
    • Group B. On a bi-weekly basis, support ten High Alphas. Each meeting is to last 30-45 mins.
    • Group C. Every 4-6 weeks, support ten High Alphas. Each meeting is to last 45-60 mins.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Extensive travel may be required
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 10 pounds
