JOB SUMMARY

The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for supporting a superior and innovative learning experience for Pankow employees through creation and refinement of content, teaching and facilitation related to training programs and events. This role fosters the health of our organization by communicating with employee participants, vendors, subject matter experts and the People Team to prepare for successful events and program launches. Reporting to the Directors of People, the Learning and Development Specialist will also collaborate with People Team members for culture, content, and message alignment.

JOB SCOPE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Primary Accountabilities

Training Materials

  1. Create and curate Learning and Development (L&D) content:
    • Manage and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
    • Evaluate for relevancy, and make available existing training content and manage others in this effort
    • When needed: Manage external and instructional design consultants
  2. Maintain L&D content
  3. Prepare and distribute training aids such as instructional material, handouts, evaluation forms and visual aids
    • Refine and complete learning materials with graphics, enhancements and visual reinforcement to produce high quality presentations and learning aids
  4. Research and evaluate content vendors and resources

Communication and Collaboration

  1. Act as a point-of-contact for L&D program participants and vendors
  2. Develop relationships with participants and stakeholders to support the employee experience and the advancement of learning within our organization
  3. Ensure processes and procedures are documented, and changes consistently incorporated, in standardization tool(s) such as Promapp, as well as in supporting documents or applications

Teaching and Facilitation

  1. Support the learning and development of employees through outreach efforts to reinforce culture, enable retention and communicate organizational alignment of L&D content and initiatives.
  2. Conduct and/or facilitate engaging training sessions as appropriate
  3. Conduct train-the-trainer sessions for Subject Matter Experts or others as needed
  4. Design and develop tools for pre- and post-training assessment

Learning Platform

  1. Research, evaluate, and inform project stake-holders on the capabilities and limitations of potential applications to assist in decision making
  2. Assist in facilitation of multi-stakeholder sessions to evaluate and test application(s)
  3. Assist in deployment of upgrades, enhancements and maintenance to application(s)
  4. Manage communications with external vendors for application(s)
  5. Provide issue resolution and follow-through in support of applications

Scheduling and tracking

  1. Coordinate with training leaders and maintain awareness of training calendars and training trends; seek opportunities to identify well-timed trainings
  2. Assemble project documentation, files and attendance/participation records for individual trainings
  3. Coordinate use of evaluations and assessments
  4. Coordinate other specialized L&D programs

Event Planning

  1. Initiate and maintain event scheduling, invitations, participant registration lists, and day-of facilitation, as needed
  2. Secure the use of internal or external facilities, including meeting rooms, computer equipment, audio/visual equipment, general supplies (i.e. pens, paper, flipcharts) and any meals or related social events, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Instruction Design or applicable area preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail with ability to apply concepts into structured formats
  • Experience and demonstrated interest in event planning, organizing and visual design
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to manage priorities and multiple projects
  • Proficient in Windows Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier), Prezi, Smartsheet preferred.
  • Visual design skills and ability to storyboard including use of clip art, digital photographs, video, audio and graphic animations

Work Experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant L&D experience with content creation/curation, scheduling, event planning, communications
  • Experience with learning management systems a plus
