Job Description

Position Title: Chief Financial Officer

Scope/Responsibilities

  • Partnering with the COO and the entire management team (including TZP), the CFO will be a critical driver of company performance and the advancement and execution of the company’s business model. The CFO will help deliver value and growth with a continuous focus on improving profitability, managing costs, creating efficiencies, and mitigating risk for the company.
  • The CFO will instill a continuous focus on sustainable business process improvements while better connecting the components of the value chain to improve decision making.
  • As part of the executive leadership team, the CFO will be an active contributor to the development of business strategy and will play a leading role in the development of financial analytics and operating performance measures that support profitable operations, growth, new business opportunities and investment strategies.
  • They will develop the capabilities of the finance team to better support the business through growth and / or acquisitions.
  • The CFO will also ensure the ongoing development and management of financial systems, controls and accounting, treasury, tax, internal audit.
  • The CFO will serve as an advisor to the COO, the Board of Directors and TZP to help communicate the Company’s progress against key strategic, financial and shareholder return objectives. Other key relationships will include the corporate management team, divisional business managers / operators, external auditors, and external constituents including lenders and banks.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities encompass oversight of all aspects of finance, accounting, and other critical administrative and operational functions.
  • Specific responsibilities include: Business Partner: Serve as a business partner and strategic adviser to the COO and to other members of the executive leadership team. Provide insight into critical business matters to drive profitable growth.
  • Contribute actively to the evolution and execution of strategic business plans, including M&A, organic growth, and business development strategies.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Provide overall leadership to the management reporting, financial planning, and budgeting processes.
  • Lead efforts to drive analytical rigor of the finance team so that business decisions throughout the organization are informed by analytical insight while improving the organization’s ability to leverage and manage data. Develop standardized data sets for business measurement, business planning, performance management and reporting.
  • Efficiency/Process Improvement: Develop a systems roadmap to ensure movement towards an efficient set of financial management systems and consolidate any redundant back-office systems. Continuously examine opportunities for sustainable cost efficiencies that are consistent with the operating and growth strategies of the business.
  • Leverage the IT department to collaboratively develop new tools that can drive improved Company performance and profitability.
  • Reporting/Control: Oversee and lead financial reporting. Supervise the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports, including tax filings and analysis of performance to the strictest standards ofccounting andt the law. Ensure the fiscal integrity of the business through enhancement and management of accounting systems and controls.
  • Manage outside advisors such as audit and tax. Coordinate and ensure compliance with local and national legal and regulatory filing and other requirements, and with the IT team to ensure proper alignment of reporting systems with business needs.
  • Treasury / Cash Management/Insurance: Play a leading role in optimizing the Company’s financial structure and balance sheet, including establishing a company-level loan facility. Manage banking, financial advisor and corporate insurance relationships, interface with investors, lenders, insurers and manage bank credit lines, loans, and capital leases. Develop and enhance procedures for working capital management, including Corporate and divisional AR and AP practices.
  • M&A/Real Estate: As part of the leadership team, help evaluate the strategic positioning of any proposed deal and support negotiations. Support M&A efforts in deal modeling, analysis, and financial / risk due diligence and integration of platform and portfolio acquisitions. Provide input and direction in support of major decisions in areas such as other asset acquisitions and new business ventures – including the acquisition, refinancing and disposition of real estate assets in connection with HRG’s pilot real estate investment management program.
  • Team Leadership: Provide effective and visible leadership to the finance team, ensuring the development of the required capabilities for the Company. Ensure the functions are properly resourced and organized, be a talent magnet, and develop a business partner focus across the organization. Develop talent and ensure the movement of talent across finance and other disciplines. Model collaboration and culture to the finance team as well as the entire organization.

Key Selection Criteria

  • The ideal candidate will have been a sitting CFO or deputy finance leader of a real estate services or similar services business and will bring experience from companies with relevant scale and complexity.
  • Understand complex capital and debt structures and how to enhance them.
  • Experience working with Private Equity sponsors in a leveraged environment and managing lender relationships is required.
  • Significant experience with M&A financial analysis and modeling including business unit or company spin offs.
  • Experience with ERP implementations or finance transformation involving people process and technology to improve financial and management reporting.
  • Experience developing key management metrics/tools for managers to better run their businesses.
  • Treasury and cash management experience with the operational understanding to drive cash flow.
  • Experience working with organizations known for developing strong financial professionals, demonstrating exceptional skills in areas such as financial analysis, cash management, and financial and strategic planning.
  • Experience leading and motivating a multi-functional staff in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • An undergraduate degree in accounting or finance is preferred;
