Job Description
Actively seeking several sous chefs who will work closely with the head chef to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen and the delivery of high-quality food to customers.
Duties:
They are responsible for managing the kitchen staff, overseeing food preparation, and maintaining kitchen safety and hygiene standards.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation of menu items according to recipes and quality standards set by the head chef. This includes chopping vegetables, butchering meat, preparing sauces, and other culinary tasks.
• Help manage kitchen operations, including inventory management, ordering supplies, and ensuring proper storage of ingredients. Supervise kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to recipes and food safety standards.
• Collaborate with the head chef to develop new menu items or modify existing ones. Contribute ideas for seasonal menus, specials, and promotions. • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and flavor. Conduct regular inspections of food items to ensure freshness and proper storage. Monitor portion sizes and presentation to meet customer expectations.
• Enforce sanitation standards and kitchen hygiene practices to prevent foodborne illnesses and ensure compliance with health regulations. Monitor kitchen equipment for proper functioning and safety.
• Work closely with other kitchen staff, including the head chef, line cooks, and dishwashers, to coordinate food preparation and service. Communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow during busy periods.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience working in a professional kitchen, preferably as a line cook or prep cook.
• Culinary degree or certificate from an accredited culinary school is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Attention to detail and a passion for food and cooking. Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays. .
