Job Description

Job Title: Inside Sales / Estimator

Reports To: Sales & Marketing Manager

Department: Sales

Direct Reports: None

FLSA Status: Exempt

Travel: As Required; less than 15%

Job Grade:


Summary:

Provide timely and accurate quotes to current and new customers. Enter leads, enter orders, and follow-up on quotes. Foster relationships with assigned manufacturing representatives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and are not limited to:

  • Acknowledge receipt of e-mailed quote requests within 2 business hours.
  • Timely completion of quotes (usually 2-3 business days).
  • Get prices from approved vendors on unique products needed for a given quote.
  • Enter Purchase Orders in ACT and QuickBooks.
  • Enter leads and contacts into ACT.
  • Reconcile QuickBooks estimates for Purchase Orders received to minimize downstream errors.
  • Follow up on all outstanding quotes.
  • Train engineers, project managers, and salespeople on products and services.
  • Make occasional sales calls.
  • Conduct mid-year and annual reviews with assigned representatives.
  • Attend tradeshows as required.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree or combination of education and work experience managing /quoting projects in industrial/commercial and/or construction industries.

Computer Skills:

Strong computer skills including QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ACT!

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret working drawings and specifications. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Skilled communications. Client management skills.

Mathematical / Analytical Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Knowledge of basic electrical calculation, applicable codes and standards, rules and regulations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to determine alternate project scopes.
