Job Description
This position is onsite in San Diego.

The HRBP will act as a strategic business partner; serve as an expert advisor across all aspects of human resources, including workforce planning, total rewards considerations, organizational development, employee relations, performance management, and other aspects in support of Mainstay Medical and its subsidiaries.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees across the globe.
  • Ensure regular presence to build and enhance relationships with employees.
  • Focus on talent engagement and development, partnering with the Talent Acquisition Partner to identify and place the best talent for open positions and development opportunities..
  • Partners with VP of HR in developing and executing strategies and implement talent plans to address organizational talent needs; partners with the Talent Acquisiton Partner to ensure talent gaps are filled appropriately.
  • Implement and execute on performance management and training projects to develop key talent and bench strength for future needs and to ensure the best talent is retained.
  • Consults with business leaders to understand training and development needs across their groups and partners in creating employee development plan; provides constructive feedback and coaching for all aspects of the Company performance management process.
  • Works with business leaders to establish and drive employee engagement actions.
  • Offers objective and balanced advice to leaders on business challenges and people implications, leadership effectiveness, culture, and alignment.
  • Partner with VP of HR to assist in overseeing annual performance and compensation planning to ensure alignment of total rewards to performance.
  • Provides guidance to objectively assess and resolve employee relations issues. Identifies root causes as opportunities to improve team effectiveness; coaches managers to be proactive in employee relations issues.
  • Manages and resolves complex human resources issues; togeher with the VP of HR, legal department and outside advisors, as applicable, conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations and closes out issues in an effective manner.
  • Develops and implements appropriate change management plans as needed.
  • Works effectively with the process owners for one or more sub-section HR process (i.e., Performance Management, Compensation Planning, Learning and Development, On Boarding Programs and Organizational Effectiveness).
  • Participates in the design and management of company-wide compensation programs. (i.e., Job Descriptions, Job Profiles, etc.)
  • Partner with VP of HR, other HR Business Partners, and HR Operations Specialist on compliance processes that benefit the organization.
  • Partner with VP of HR and the HR Operations Specialist on the design and implementation of systems that will benefit the organization in the short-, mid- and long-term planning. (Payroll, HRIS, Benefits Administration, etc.).
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 4 (four) to 7 (seven) years’ progressively responsible related experience with a minimum of 2 years in an individual leadership role.
  • Prior experience as an HR Business Partner in the Life Sciences industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting a multi-national, commercial business.
  • Strategic thinking capability and “hands on” HR plan implementation experience.
  • Demonstrated skills and abilities in coaching, influencing, facilitation, development, and problem solving with a passion to deliver results.
  • Demonstrated ability in dealing with a global structured organization including exposure to working in countries other than the U.S.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, consultative, partnership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within an environment of highly confidential and sensitive information is a must.
  • Experience in business analysis, benefits and compensation planning.
  • Strong adaptability to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to wotk effectively with mid-level and senior management.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results; skilled in bringing alignment to different views of constituents across the business.
  • Skilled at negotiating with business partners or management and influencing leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
