Job Description

Daubert Chemical Company is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer at its specialty chemical production plant at 4700 S. Central in Forest View, IL.  The successful candidate will be a degreed engineer with at least 6 years in process and/or manufacturing engineering operations plus extensive project management experience and handle the following: planning and coordinating technical engineering initiatives and completing capital projects within budget and according to schedule; uphold project standards by researching compliance regulations and developing project implementation plans. Fine tune manufacturing processes by researching, designing, modifying and testing manufacturing methods and equipment. Manages manufacturing optimization, improvement, and documentation of existing manufacturing processes. Communicate MOC to stakeholders via written SOP and internal training.

We are looking for an experienced Reliability Engineer for our plant operations to lead the application of reliability centered maintenance and other programs needed to optimize operating efficiencies on plant equipment while meeting all quality and regulatory requirements.  The ideal candidate will have experience facilitating maintenance and production teams through the implementation of best practices that include the use of computerized maintenance management related OSHA Process Safety Management elements and store room management of critical spare parts and tools.            

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but not limited to:

  • Designs, monitors, and refines an asset maintenance plan that includes value-added preventive maintenance tasks and effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems. 
    •  Write detail PM tasks and follow up with mechanics on findings.
    • Audit current PM task list and modify to improve PM effectiveness.
    • Sustains effective Life Cycle Management of buildings and utilities.
  • Performs breakdown analysis and root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement.
  • Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment suppliers and technical maintenance service providers, including (not limited to): 
    • Performance against company Welding Specifications 
    • Safe Work Practices
  • Selection of and proper use of technology to comply with quality management system requirements and OSHA PSM regulations where applicable, including Thermography, Vibration Analysis, Ultrasound, and NDT.
  • Works with project engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations. Participates in the final check-out of new installations. 
  • Manages effective performance of vendors and suppliers supporting upkeep of the facility buildings and grounds.
  • Supports company reputation by complying with federal, state, and local regulations. Follows and enforces safety rules without exception. 
  • Tracks the project's metrics and collects data to demonstrate successful completion of project goals.
  • Controls costs by tracking and approving expenditures, and closely supervising contractor work. Reports on adherence to project budget to management and Accounting. Turn in timely and accurate documentation to AP for processing. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering education.  5 or more years related experience in maintenance and reliability, production management, engineering or operations.  Chemical plant operations preferred.  Previous maintenance reliability role without and at least 10 years of experience without a degree will be considered.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop, evaluate, and implement solutions.
  • Excellent computer literacy and competency using MS Office, including intermediate/advanced excel; project management software, equipment maintenance software, etc. 
  • Demonstrated excellent project management skills including organizational, time management, leadership, and solid decision-making skills. Capable of managing multiple projects at same time.
  • Experience in effectively managing outside contractors. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal, analytical and presentation skills. Documentation and reporting skills are essential. 
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Possess great collaboration skills with ability to work closely with cross-functional team members. 
  • High degree of professional integrity and ethics.
  • Ability to work independently with intermediate supervision and communicate updates as necessary. 
  • Knowledge of production processes, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacturing and continuous improvement.
