Masterplan, a Milrose Consultants company, is hiring a Managing Director for their Austin Office in our large expanding company!

Established in 1981, Masterplan is the largest land use consulting firm in the Southwest with over four decades of experience working in the development industry and specializing in all matters related to land use, including zoning, building permits, lobbying, economic incentives, and other development approvals.

Summary:

In this hybrid role, the Managing Director of Austin will be responsible for both new business development and zoning fulfillment. This position will report to the Director of Operations in close collaboration with our current senior and junior consultants. Mastery of systems, processes, and tools is critical for success in this role. Ability to present zoning cases at public hearings, conduct community meetings, and lobby elected and appointed officials is required. There is also an expectation of conducting business development for the full range of Masterplan/LaBarba services.

Responsibilities:

  • Planners relentlessly pursuing personal, professional, and team excellence will be a great fit for this role.
  • The candidate will have responsibility for multiple, complex zoning projects in a fast-paced environment and find creative planning solutions, resulting in municipal approvals--often in the face of significant opposition.
  • Ability to read and understand complex zoning codes, general plans, specific plans, surveys, site plans, and technical reports.
  • The ability to prioritize and complete projects on time and on budget while maintaining details is essential.
  • Keen understanding of the development process, including an understanding of jurisdictional bureaucratic processes.
  • Candidates shall have expertise in performing special planning studies, interpretation of local zoning, subdivision, and other land use ordinances; comprehensive and small area plan development; zoning, subdivision, and other ordinance work; and other related work as required.
  • Prepares draft ordinances, conducts research, maintains project records and files.
  • Provide thorough due diligence reports.

Sales- Business Development Responsibilities:

  • Independently identify, generate, and close new sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate and partner with Texas sales team.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain positive business and customer relationships.
  • Provide complete and appropriate solutions to boost revenue growth and profitability.
  • Introduce and cross-sell Milrose/Masterplan suite of services by establishing contact and developing relationships with clients.
  • Participate on behalf of the company in exhibitions, conferences, and industry events.

Direct Projects:

  • Ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Technical mastery of development codes/processes.
  • Win often.

  • Know what you don’t know and rely on other members of the Milrose and Masterplan Team.

Satisfy Client Needs:

  • Manage the desire of the client with the practical reality of the assignment.
  • Ability to deliver bad news without destroying the relationship or the project.
  • Keep the project on a timeline.
  • Keep the client updated throughout the project with weekly updates.

Account Management:

  • Keep the project on budget.
  • Work with accounting to ensure client payments are up to date.
  • Maintain and improve client relationships.

Acquiring New Clients/ Projects:

  • Identify potential clients, while maintaining databases of opportunities.
  • Ability to generate and follow up on leads as well as close sales across all service lines.
  • Always be selling.
  • Active in various professional/volunteer organizations.
  • Be accomplished with Masterplan’s message and USP (unique selling proposition)
  • Cross-sell for LaBarba.
  • Actively ask for referrals

Maintain Outside Relationships:

  • Active in various professional/volunteer organizations.
  • Maintain contact with former clients and colleagues.
  • Maintain a LinkedIn presence.
  • Maintain municipal relationships.
  • Actively ask for referrals.

Education and/ or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two to four years of comparable experience required.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are a must as are solid listening skills.
  • Must be a team player with strong initiative, a desire to learn and able to complete tasks independently on project as directed by manager or PM-L2.
  • Must possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills along with the ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Experienced in reading and comprehending engineered drawings.
  • Ability to research, adapt, interpret, communicate with different municipality portals or websites.
  • Proficient in use of computer with Microsoft Word, creation and editing of Excel, creation of PowerPoint presentations, Outlook, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat skill sets.
  • Experienced in Salesforce platform.
  • Must work independently, as a team, and collaborate with other internal departments.

Customer Service:

Demonstrate flexibility in satisfying customer demands in a high-volume production environment. Maintains the highest levels of customer care while demonstrating a friendly and cooperative attitude either verbally or written communication.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Compensation:

Milrose Consultants, LLC is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Salary ranges are determined through alignment with market data. Base salary offered is determined by several factors including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skills.

Annual Base Salary Range: $115,000.00- $130,000.00 plus commission.

Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position who is regularly scheduled to work at least 40 hours per workweek.

Travel:

Travel to client site or municipal agency as expected for this position. Associate may be required to attend meetings at the discretion of management and/or if it is project related.
