To provide high quality work and education experiences for staff that are interested in understanding and facilitating developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education.
Overall Qualifications:
Must be a High School Graduate. Knowledgeable and experienced with the field of Early Childhood Education.
Must meet be willing to take 0-9 Early Childhood Education / Child Development (ECE/CD) units including core courses as outlined in the Child Development Permit Matrix System issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing,
Employee in process of moving forward towards a valid Assistant, Associate, or Teacher permit issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, State of California, Sacramento, California
Present Registration of ECE Courses per semester/quarter demonstrating in moving towards the goal of attaining an Assistant, Associate and/or Teacher Permit.
Responsibilities:
-To establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment
Supervises children at all times
Maintains a safe environment in the classroom and playground
Reports accidents, thefts, and other unusual occurrences or incidents immediately to the Site Manager or Program Director.
Maintains Community Care Licensing (CCL) standards and regulations
Follows security procedures for safety measures
Conducts health checks for all the children in the classroom on a daily basis
Provide and Implement the Pick up and Drop off procedures of children to the lobby for parents at pick up and drop off time
Provide Staff coverage
-To advance physical and intellectual competence
Ensures positive teacher/child interactions and relationships in the classroom
Works with the teacher to plan lessons and activities appropriate to children's developmental levels
-To support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance
Uses age appropriate, positive guidance techniques and models behavior for children
Works with teacher on appropriate developmental expectations for the age group
Assist in providing documentation for inclusion children
-To establish positive and productive relationships with families
Builds positive relationship with parents/guardians and respects their cultural differences
Assists Parent/Teacher conferences when needed
Encourages parents/guardians to participate in the program
-To ensure a well-run, purposeful program responsive to participant needs
Maintains classroom supplies and materials needed for the classroom
Implements Lesson Plans
Assists with DRDP paperwork and procedures
Participates in staff team work, works productively and cooperatively as well as communicates with other staff and parents.
Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Attends in service sessions, trainings and workshops as required
Follows California Department of Education (CDE), Nutrition Service Division (NSD), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Requirements and Regulations
Practices good communication skills
Will be a positive role model for all Teaching Staff and Children.
Knowledge of activities developmentally appropriate to age group. Ability to be flexible with daily routines and schedules to capture nurturing and teachable moments.
Uses Positive Descriptive Acknowledgement (PDA) as guidance to model behavior for children. Submits documentation on children as needed to Associate Teacher, Teacher, Lead Teacher, Site Manager or Program Director.
Works with the teaching team to understand appropriate developmental expectations of the age group in the classroom.

Promotes the organizations and centers philosophy and objectives
Obtains and upgrades to Assistant, Associate, or Teacher permit
Remains flexible about staffing schedule
Able to work collaboratively and cooperatively with co-workers, supervisors, and other professionals
-Physical requirement
Able to lift fifty (50) pounds
Ability to go up and down stairs with no limitation
Must be in good health and able to pass a physical exam
Demonstrates the ability to meet required state, federal, local and M.C.C.C. standards (including, but not limited to, fingerprinting clearance, negative TB test, First Aid/CPR)
Other duties as assigned to provide assistance to the Lead Teacher, Site Manager and Program Director or as directed by the Executive Director.

Start date: Immediately
Compensation: $20.00 per hour
Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt position, 20-30 hours per week
Reports to: Lead Teacher, Teacher, Associate Teacher, Site Manager, or Program Director
