You will be responsible for efficiently generating leads, developing sales opportunities, and securing new business for Gencove’s low-pass sequencing and genomic data analysis software platform in the human, biotech/ pharma, and population genomics segments. You'll collaborate with the Sales, Marketing, and Business Development team to expand our reach in the western US region. You’ll be working closely with cutting edge applications in genomics to help make sequencing more actionable across a wide range of markets.
Gencove is a rapidly-growing startup developing a genome sequencing and analytics platform to enable the next generation of genomics applications in medicine and agriculture. We have partnered with customers across the world, including leading pharma companies like Boehringer Ingelheim and GSK, and universities like Stanford and the Weizmann Institute. We are looking for an experienced Sales Manager to help us deploy the Gencove platform for human genomics applications in the US West territory. This individual will be an integral member of the commercial team, reporting to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

- Previous experience as a life science software or genomics tools sales rep
- Experience working as part of a startup or early-stage company
- Previously worked in the life sciences/genomics domain
- (Preferred) experience with software products and business models
- Demonstrated success developing and closing sales opportunities
- (Preferred) understanding of genomics and market dynamics
- Excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to build relationships
- Experience with cold outbound emails and platforms
- Enthusiastic and passionate
- (Preferred) reside in the San Francisco Bay Area; other western US major cities considered
- Ability to travel 25-50%, or as needed
- Bachelor's degree in a life sciences field, e.g. molecular biology
Responsibilities
- Pursue and develop new business opportunities in designated markets.
- Perform prospecting activities such as cold calling, emailing, networking, and regional events.
- Build long-term relationships with key clients and prospects.
- Illustrate the value of products and services to create growth opportunities.
- Present technical solutions to customers, write proposals, and negotiate agreements.
- Close software and services sales to new customers; expand business with current accounts.
- Participate in brainstorming, office activities, staff meetings and client meetings, researching and assisting with program development for existing clients and new prospects.
- Provide strategic and competitive feedback to the executive, business development, marketing, and product teams about the market and product.

- Competitive salary: $135,000-150,000 annual base salary range + $135,000-150,000 (100% base) commission potential at target for $270,000-300,000 in total compensation, if sales target is achieved
