Healthcare Property and Facilities Director

 

The Healthcare Property and Facilities Director will provide management oversight for properties and buildings, maintenance, repair, vendors and contracts, and other facilities operations for our healthcare client. Oversight includes five micro-hospital locations within the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania.

 

The Healthcare Property and Facilities Director will have extensive expertise in property and/or facilities management within a hospital or healthcare setting, including extensive experience effectively communicating with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders. The person in this role will also have exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

 

Cref seeks an innovative and collaborative leader with a strong customer service approach.  The Director will promote service excellence by developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers, team members, and clinical staff. The Director will ensure the highest quality of care by performing his/her responsibilities according to the highest professional standards. Technical healthcare facilities management knowledge is a must. The Director must be a visible leader, comfortable managing and implementing change.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of various commercial/healthcare properties, including property improvement initiatives and related budgets.
  • Manage and monitor building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management.
  • Track work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budget guidelines.
  • Ensure service and safety standards are adhered to.
  • Train employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations.
  • Manage vendors and contracts (g., food service, security, maintenance engineering, etc.).
  • Evaluate and address vendor performance.
  • Ensure the facility is being properly maintained and operated to Client standards.
  • Continuously evaluate systems, equipment, etc. to determine issues, or needed maintenance or repairs, and take the necessary steps to successfully address these issues.
  • Ensure support is in place for seasonal weather that has the risk of impacting operations of each assigned property.

  • Refine systems, processes, and metrics to manage daily maintenance and operations effectively.
  • Create a high level of service performance with a patient satisfaction focus.
  • Communicate honestly and effectively with direct reports, hospital staff, and senior leadership while maintaining a culture of accountability, respect, and understanding.
  • Provide feedback, instruction, and developmental guidance to help others excel in their current or future job responsibilities; plan and support the development of individual skills and abilities.

 

Essential Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Facilities Management or similar degree, or equivalent relevant field experience. Five to eight years of experience as a Property and/or Facilities Manager within healthcare is required, as are proven strategic leadership skills.

 

The Director will demonstrate the ability to prioritize, plan and organize work, and use time efficiently while developing realistic action plans. The person in this role must adapt quickly to changes in scope or direction. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all internal and external stakeholders is required. Working knowledge of hospital operations and related regulations (The Joint Commission, NFPA, and local authorities).

 

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Senior Director, Emergency Project Management

 

Work Location

Lehigh Valley, PA

 

Travel

~25%, including travel across PA and outside PA as the need arises.
