About the Role:

The role of the Compliance Officer is to manage Mbanq's compliance function, most importantly to carry out BSA/AML risk management responsibilities in an efficient and effective manner. In addition, the Compliance Officer is responsible for KYB and KYC due diligence of new clients, continuous monitoring, operationally supporting clients' BSA/AML function, reviewing policies and procedures, and maintaining respective compliance process, standards, and governance. The Compliance Officer will manage a team of Compliance Analyst, and report to the Head of Banking Strategy and PMO.

What you'll do day-to-day:
• Monitor compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws and recognize suspicious activities related to money laundering, terrorist financing and illegal activity.
• Maintain and review the BSA and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) monitoring system to assure that it has appropriate tools to identify suspicious or fraudulent activities.
• Partner with Sales and Platform Solutions Manager on timely and thorough execution of Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYCB) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and responsibilities.
• Provide review, final approval and submission of brand's application to sponsored banks; act as liaison between clients/brands with sponsored banks.
• Provide clients/brands with compliance-as-a-service and regulatory-as-a-service deliverables, including guidance and support related to BSA/AML matters (i.e., queue exception review and regulatory filings).
  • Evaluate and monitor transactional activity to assess potential suspicious activity (e.g., money laundering).
  • Perform transaction monitoring alert reviews and sanctions hit reviews to be able to identify when activity requires further investigation.

• Engage in ongoing deliverables such as: annual client/brand risk assessment, monitoring and EDD reviews of high-risk clients.
• Recommend and review policies and establishing procedures to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

About You:
• A Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, or a related business discipline.
• 3-5 years of BSA/AML-related operational experience and experience analyzing financial records to identify inconsistencies in accounts.
• A thorough understanding of financial crimes risk management principles and the Three Lines of Defense model is required.
• Must have prior experience successfully supporting business units with the execution of aforementioned responsibilities.
• Strong presentation and relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate and articulate regulatory requirements and/or resulting analysis effectively, while inspiring confidence and with an enthusiastic and approachable style.
• Excellent leadership skills demonstrated through problem-solving skills, ownership of issues seen through to resolution, providing sound guidance to the business, and positively influencing organizational culture.
• Ability to manage workload and shift priorities to meet deadlines in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
• Proficiency in the use of Risk Management tools and systems to analyze the degree of compliance with external regulations.
