This role is a 6 month contract to hire open to US Citizens and Green Card Holders only at this point.

 

Travel to customer sites is required when troubleshooting is needed. Transportation for support will occur via company provided vehicle.

 

The ideal candidate will work with our lead programmer to assist in programming PLC and HMI software for company projects as assigned. The candidate will be required to troubleshoot our systems & work under the programmer to troubleshoot any issues that may arise out on existing customer sites (travel as needed, vehicle provided).

Responsibilities include the following:

The programmer will be responsible to assist with the design, development, maintenance, documentation, trouble shooting and debugging of PLC & HMI programs.

  • Complete all programming projects (control logic, HMI screens, etc.) accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with on-site start and troubleshoot, as needed.
  • Assist the lead programmer in the development of the programming standards and library functions.
  • Pro-actively coordinate with project managers, engineers, field technicians, and clients.
  • Integrate programming with pumps, blowers and mechanical equipment control.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years experience in PLC/HMI programming with deployment experience
  • Ability to read Electrical Prints, schematics and drawings
  • Ability to troubleshoot Electrical circuits, both control and power distribution
  • Ability to write, understand and troubleshoot PLC software
  • Experience with HMI design and packages
  • Strong technical and analytical proficiency with the ability to multi-task effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to adapt well to change, while utilizing strong problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with water/waste water applications is preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD is a plus
  • Experience with SCADA Software is a plus
  • PLC programming experience with Siemens is a plus
  • Calibration and testing of transmitters, switches, converters, recorders, indicators, actuated valves, and control loops back to PLC or DCS systems
  • Database solutions
  • OIT application development and deployment
  • Oil and Gas experience is highly desirable
  • Wired and wireless Industrial Communications solutions
  • Understanding of Electrical Design and Engineering
  • Verifies all test equipment is NIST Traceable and has a current calibration date
  • Utilizes industry standards for testing
  • Experience with developing systems to control pumps and blowers, and other mechanical facilities is a plus

Required Minimum Qualifications (Techs):

  • High School Diploma, or Equivalent
  • Valid Drivers License with clean driving record

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to receive and follow direction
  • Ability to clearly communicate, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work safely, and recognize potential hazards
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to recognize and respond to dangerous situations or emergencies such as high voltage systems, electrical fires, loose hot wires, broken power lines, etc. This position will be working with 480 volts or less. No high voltage repair or firefighting is within job responsibilities
  • Ability to diagnose system malfunction, locate cause of breakdown and correct the problem or recommend solution
  • Ability to set and balance priorities in order to complete projects on time
  • Ability to make decisions and recommend appropriate course of action in difficult situations
  • Ability to handle stress and possess positive trait even in difficult or challenging situations


Automation / Commissioning Technician Specific Skillsets:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of control systems, equipment, operational and mechanical systems including; installation, testing, maintenance, and repair
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC control circuits
