Job Description

Pro Talent Group, a division of MS-IL Staffing & Packaging, and its local client are NOW HIRING a full-time Quality Assurance Supervisor in the Indianapolis, Indiana, area!


This role oversees part of the quality assurance tasks, either directly or by guiding QA Technicians. It involves training in inspecting and testing products, researching defects, and suggesting changes to improve quality based on this research and customer feedback. It may also involve conducting inspections and tests.


Shifts: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift available!


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

· Ensure adherence to safety procedures and promote a safe working environment.

· Supervise timely execution of product and packaging evaluations.

· Interpret inspection results and identify trends affecting product quality and safety.

· Enforce compliance with departmental, company, customer, and regulatory guidelines.

· Coordinate with manufacturing departments to maintain a proactive team effort.

· Train and develop QA Technicians, ensuring proper skill sets are acquired.

· Maintain calibration and labeling of equipment and reagents.

· Establish sampling plans for various processes to ensure quality parameters are met.

· Troubleshoot quality deviations and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

· Conduct GMP, HACCP, and sanitation inspections.

· Monitor the Incoming Inspection Program and assist with ingredient tagging.

· Assist with product formulation and creation of blend sheets for production.

· Investigate non-conforming products and customer complaints promptly.

· Monitor and coordinate rework of non-conforming products as needed.

· Review QA paperwork and charts daily, addressing any issues.

· Oversee retention and disposal of QA samples.

· Supervise pH control program and ensure availability of QA supplies and equipment.

· Audit production areas to meet customer requirements.

· Ship customer samples as required.

· Oversee calibration of lab instruments and verify analytical tests.

· Ensure accuracy and control of forms, work instructions, and procedures.

· Plan weekly schedule for QA Technicians and ensure production coverage.

· Review and assign work hours for QA Technicians.

· Represent the department in staff and safety meetings.

· Collaborate with customer representatives on new products and packaging.

· Ensure qualification and commission runs meet customer specifications.

· Generate summary reports summarizing departmental activities.

· Perform other duties as assigned.


Education & Experience Required:

· Bachelor’s degree with some courses in food science, biology, microbiology, chemistry preferred.

· Education may be waived in lieu of experience.

· 3 years in Quality Assurance/Control Function or Supervisory experience in a beverage manufacturing environment.

· Must be knowledgeable in pasteurization/thermal process systems, HACCP programs and GMP policies.

· Mathematical skills, ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, averages, and ratios.

· Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word.

· Must possess sound verbal and written communication techniques, and interpersonal leadership skills.


Skills for Success:

· Familiarity with ISO, SPC, and Process Improvement concepts.

· Strong PC systems and software application skills (administer database, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.).

· Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks with various deadlines.

· Work with the HR Manager and the QA Manager on any QA Human Resources related issues.

· Understand FSSC 22000 and ISO9001:2008 standards.

· Above average math skills.

· Must have good analytical and problem solving skills.

· Demonstrates attention to detail, a professional attitude, and produces accurate work product.

· Excellent planning, analytical and organizational skills.


Physical Demands:

· Can regularly talk, hear, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

· Can occasionally stand, walk, stoop kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell.

· Can lift up to 10lbs regularly, up to 25lbs frequently, and occasionally up to 50lbs


Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high places and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold and extreme heat. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but the employee may occasionally be exposed to high level noises including but not limited to manufacturing equipment.
